GC 12% today, 10% yesterday?

Greetings,

Well...crap.

I mean it's not much in the long run, I'd have been able to buy a GC for around $7.50 more, but I feel kinda...crappy for buying a GC when I did, instead of today.

Bleh.

  • Same boat here. Well, at least the ad was truthful: the 10% off was for a limited time this time.

I got the 10% too, but perhaps there were people who had already gotten the featured products by the time that was promoted so there was nothing for them to buy to get the gift card. It was very late in the sale. So this gives folks a fresh start with new products. Glad it's more than 10%, better than not offering one at all. But I sure understand the frustration as I am in the same boat.

I can see why the 10% of GC was a 'very time limited offer' ;)

LOL, they didn't want two running at the same time!

I set my october DAZ budget with the 10% gift card, so I really really shouldn't buy any more store credit at this time. I might need to eat later in the month too...

Look at it this way...you could have been someone who bought reality at the 40% discount the day before the 60% discount.

And the annoying part is, if you think: "Ah, this New Featured item is worth a buy, while I still have the REV-up discount" and then you think, hell, I'll buy an extra gift card although I bought one already, you can't pay the New Featured item with your redeemed store credit from the first gift card.

Because you can't buy gift cards with store credit. And the new gift card and New Featured item should be in the cart at the same time.

Shouldn't DAZ give an option to pay a part with store credit and a part with PayPal/CC?

I posted yesterday, I thought the 10% was crap when there was nothing new; it isn't a bargain when I have to buy something I litterally don't want.

I've got enough credit to last for a month and perhaps longer; but 12% is better, and there is an item I'm interested in. So I'll think about it for a few hours - basically it has to be something I would have likely bought anyway, and I wait until the initial uphoria of, yippee another offer, has worn off smiley; if it vanishes, well no biggy; If I don't spend anything, that is always a win. yes

Oh yeh, and I've checked the exchange rate; slightly lower than in the past, but it has been lower, so again it might be worthwhile getting.

Color me also quite miffed. As usual, buying early at DAZ was a horrible mistake.

I filled my gift card quota yesterday too, because of the limited time offer. I've never seen DAZ offer a better gift card the next day. That's a cheap trick.

more than likely it wasn't planned, and when the 10% offer didn't work(to get as many sales as they wanted), they upped it.

My issue with GC is I never want to have TOO much money stocked up here. I've got enough for at least a month, and with the current trends and my current needs more like 3 months worth of funds left.

Well I bought one for 10% yesterday and saw this today for a breif moment was miffed and then I thought had I waited there wouldn't be one at all. But it is a bit dishearting to see it go on sale for lower the very next day.

That's good advice as usual. =-) And yeah, it is only 2 bucks, but its like buying a non-returnable thing on sale, and then have it go on sale for more the next day. The slight feeling you've been skinned a little.

Well, I didn't buy the gift card yesterday; but I did buy some catchup items at 50% when today they are back in the full throttle sale and I could get them for 64% with my rev-ups. Grrr!!!

Also, yesterday  removed some items from ny wishlist because I figured the PA sale was over. Oh well, I can't rember what they were so I guess I didn't want them too badly.

It's always worth waiting... It have been larsmidnatt who said it in another thread.

Waiting costs nothing, and what comes along later is usually either as good or better, and very rarely worse.

Daz have themselves in a bit of a bind imo.

They've upped the prices becuase of the sales they do; customers know this so wait, so Daz has to give good offers, which again means folks wait.

Exactly. If you don't have to use an asset (or the store credit to get said asset) right this minute, patience pays off.

True. But in this case it was the end of month. So, I thought that the Catchup was the end of the PA sale and the items would go back to full price. Oh well, it is only a few dollars difference

On a different note, I really wish Village Road would show up in the sale. Originally, it would have qualified, but then it was re-released to include Iray materils and this pushed the release date forward.

Well, Just for some prespective, I know it sucks to have The gift cards junp for 10% off to 12% off... However, remember that is only $2.00 more on a $100 card... meaning to save $20.00 today over yesterday, you'd have had to spent $1000...

If $2.00 is going to ruin your life, you're probably better off not spending $100 on Daz anyways.

Absolutely... I know it sucks for PA's but if I live without a product for a little bit, I will wait... 30% off is almost nothing if you can wait for 60% or even a rare 70-80% off. I wanted Zevo's fit control. First time Zevo was on the PA sale, it was still full price as too new... waited 2 weeks, and that time, it was at the 60% off.

  • cdemeritcdemerit Posts: 505

Oh, and Daz occasionally does some silly sales... I've seen things in the Fast-Grab at the 70% off one day, then the next they are "on sale" at 40% off... yeah, If I wasn't interested in it at 70%, what makes you think I'm gonna want it at 40% off... I don't see that often, but often enough to remember it.

Nah, as I said, if I spent the amount I spent on a GC, I could have gotten one for ~$7.50 more, which is annoying because it's about the price of one well-discounted item.  It's not going to 'ruin my life', but it does make me feel a little unhappy about having spent early, and a little burned, and it wasn't the greatest of ways to start my DAZ day. :/

That's why I just said, 'Bleh.', not 'OH MY GOD, I COULD HAVE BOUGHT CAT FOOD WITH THAT EXTRA MONEY TO LIVE ON FOR THE DARK TIMES WHEN I'M PENNILESS BECAUSE I BOUGHT A DAZ GIFT CERTIFICATE AT 2% LESS!'

    wink

    --  Morgan

p.s. The way it works out is that if you spend $1000 on a GC (not 'Got a GC for $1000') the amount of difference you would have gotten between yesterday's price and today's is $25.  Seems weird, but it's true.

  • vwranglervwrangler Posts: 4,973

Well, supposedly, when Daz does that sort of difference in offers close together, you're allowed to put in a ticket requesting the difference. Probably worth a shot, anyway; all they can do is say no.

I really didn't read it as much more than a Blah... But, at least in my case, the difference was almost undetectable... well I guess when you have a $50 budget, 2% doesn't make much of a difference... frown.
