Art work & animation  created & rendered with Daz Studio 4.8.  Post work with Photoshop and Adobe Premiere

This is my most ambitious Karate Girl animation to date, there are tons of very large scenes and sets I have used with in daz studio to create this animation some scene are done with Iray some with 3Dlight. so i'm posting this in the commons so those users that may not see my Art & animation thread in the art section can enjoy it as well.t. my only draw back is with out a floor pinning tool  for my characters it made this animation very time consumming and creative editing to make look the best I could.. Please enjoy it. comments are welcomed.

I surely enjoyed watching this. Thanks for making it and sharing.

  • I loved it.  Excellent storytelling, and that's the first-most-important thing to me.  I think you did exceptionally well with the animation and I recognize the sheer amount of work that you had to put into it.

The sound track was especially good in the final fight scene.  Some people say that you shouldn't notice the sound track but I disagree.  The sound track should add to the story, and yours did.

I like the girl a lot.  I also like a protagonist who is not afraid to terminate evil, not even if it means killing somebody.  I like hard-edged stories like that, and nobody really makes them anymore.  I'm not into over-the-top gore, but I've thought about it and I think maybe there should have been some blood in that final scene, on her, on him, on the ground.  It would have added to the already strong sense of danger and elevated the feeling of finality.

For the fight stuff.  The movies and television have romanticized the idea of "I hit you and I didn't even have to see you".  It can look cool, but that's fiction.  So is your video of course, but I got the sense that you were not looking for Jackie Chan flair here.  So real fighters look (even Jackie Chan does).  They look fast and they look a lot, but they look.  And anything they hit, they've already seen, maybe more than a couple times.

I saw a couple times where Karate Girl looked away from her attacker because she was setting up for a strike.  For future fight scenes...maybe Karate Girl should sight the target more, keep the setup short and fast (limit the excessive spinning and flipping before throwing punch or kick), then hit it hard and get out fast.  Even a petite girl can tear an opponent's ligaments or break bones, but she has to see the target, be on target, and then she has to have some body weight behind the blow.  Finally, she needs to recover her limbs quickly so that she can either block, avoid, or strike again.

I noticed that Karate Girl kicks often, as certain fighting styles do.  She does not necessarily need to go airborne a lot, however.  Low kicks can do a lot of damage and even a 95 pound girl can break a guy's knee, tibia, fibula, or femur by kicking his weight-bearing leg in just the right place with the right force.  She could even rip his achilles tendon if she catches him from behind.  Any of these things might end a fight immediately.

Kicking to a target above her waist height makes it harder to do damage, because a man's torso has more mass than her leg alone.  Kicking high can also be as risky to a girl kicker as it is to a man kicker, because her (ahem) nether regions are exposed to a counter attack, which would probably come from a punch or an elbow.  His arms could well be bigger than her legs, so if he gets a grip on her ankle while that foot (or her whole body) is in the air, he could even hold her in an exposed position for repeated strikes with his other hand.  By the time he lets go or she successfully disengages from his grasp, he could have ended the fight.  Or worse, if he's holding a sharp weapon.

I'm not a "karate pro" or anything, but I did take a few years of instruction.  I learned that a strike between the legs will hurt a girl too, and depending on the style being taught, it might be considered a legitimate target.  So if she's kicking high, her kicks should be rapid, devastating, and over with quickly.  Retrieve that foot and get it back on the ground so that she can move away or set up for a new attack.

I do realize that maybe you weren't trying for all that and I also know that you're probably limited by the fighting animation movement files available to you.  If that's the case, that's okay and you can disregard everything I wrote above.  I still loved it and I'll watch the next Karate Girl, especially if she gets to fight again in a teddy-type of nightgown.  cheekywink

Hah, I wish the planes I fly on had seats as big as those, but this looks like a regional carrier.

In recent years, all of the major airlines have reduced their seat sizes and the available space for legs.  Except in first class, so when I can afford it, I will fly FC.  There are other perks that make it easier to pay the premium.

I just wanted to post some examples of my test renders and the behind the scenes of building a large scene for a animation. This is taken from my current project of a street racing animation.   I want to show some people that have asked me questions on the use of Bill Boards and cheats for large scenes.  . So ths is just one of my example how I use bill board props as back ground fill ,  I use these to help cut down my resources, and speed up my render times.

First I want to mention that  bill-board props can be tricky to render.  you have to make sure they all ways face the camera the right angel,  or your audience will notice something off. because the wrong angel and how the shadows play off them, they will look like paper dolls .   Anyways  this is my first test render of my  parking lot scene I am building for this animation

#1 Test renders 1 & 2 are the POV of my render camera. which I will use during my film

#2 is a screen capture of what my back ground characters really look like

Now to make this look like a real street racing gathering and to fool the viewing  audience that everyone is moving around,  I'll just just 2 or 3 ,maybe 4 characters  that actually move walking around waving their arms etc. mixed in the crowd. this will cut down the actual amount of characters I normally have ti use if I loaded each character one at a time.  the test renders took 14 seconds to render the frame @ 1080 HD each frame is around 120 kb so you can see how much bill boards can reduce render weight.

I'll post some more screen cuts of my new films as I go along I just wanted to show how i used Bill-boards.for background fill short cuts in my animation.
