DForce Hair Simulation Bug?

Should DForce hair still work if the hair is cross-fitted to another Genesis generation?  Such as fitting G9 hair to G8?

Take any G9 DForce hair, and put it on G9 figure. Run simulation. It works.

Crossfit the same G9 hair on G8. Run simulation.  Get error:

Simulation Error
Error preparing objects to simulate and collide.

[WARNING] :: ..\..\..\src\dzdynamicsengine.cpp(2691): ERROR: clCreateBuffer (-61)

Does that mean that DForce hair cannot be used on another Genesis generations, as it cannot be posed without morphs?  It can be fitted, but without morphs, it just looks terrible.

Does the fitted hair have some kind of property that can be edited, to tell Daz to simulate the hair for a G8 figure, and not a G9 figure?
There must be some kind of vertex-mismatch or mis-identification going on.

    It is generally best, if the hair is growing from a skullcap or the like, to manually fit that to the other figure rather than using AutoFit as the vertex movements from AutoFit will break the refit

    If a Daz creator wants to create DForce hair for both G8 and G9, is there a workflow that lets them transfer DForce properties from one generation to another without breaking their work?

    So, say I have both G9 and G8 figures loaded in the scene, both fitted with the same G9 hair. What DForce properties can be copied from G9 to G8?

    If I can't copy DForce properties, then what can I do to reset the DForce system so G8 fitted hair simulation will at least work again, but with default values?

    Hello there,

    dForce hair cannot be easily auto-fitted between different generations.

    There is a workaround which I have described in a tutorial here - https://www.deviantart.com/toyen-art/journal/Tutorial-How-to-Fit-Poseable-Hair-to-Genesis-9-933611835

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks, very useful.  Even a video too!  I guess my first mistake was trying to use AutoFit at all.  If I just load the hair and attach it to the head bone without using AutoFit, then DForce simulation works.  Hierarchical materials are a headache, but manageable.

    But, your tutorial is improvement over that, creating a fitting morph too. Very helpful.
