SaveGuard: Ultimate Scene Saver for Daz Studio Win 64 v1.2

Hello, dear artist!

Unfortunately, the initial version of my SaveGuard: Ultimate Scene Saver for DAZ Studio Win 64 is not compatible with DAZ Studio 4.24.
However, the new version (v1.2) has already been submitted for review!

In addition to supporting the latest version of DAZ Studio, v1.2 also includes several bug fixes and finally tracks scene saves in subfolders of your selected directories.

I apologize for the inconvenience, and thank you for your patience!

    matew Thank you to let us know, this software/utility for Daz Studio is a great help.

    I can patiently wait for the update.

    Same here. SaveGuard has alredy "saved" me on several occasions and without it I feel I am working in a tall bridge without a safety harness. I am eagerly waiting for the update - but, nevertheless, I am a patient guy. Thanks matew!

    Great Product.

    A potential feature upgrade would be to allow the images to be seen in thumbnail view within the DAZ file system. It appears the naming structure in SaveGuard for the images prevents it from being viewed in the file system in DAZ and if you manually change it then SaveGuard has an issue. This would be a great program feature.

    Not sarcastic, but pointing out that if there hasn't been an update then the behaviour would not be expected to have changed, so it would still fail.

    So, "sarcastic-like"? Just messing about. It just reads really great with a sarcastic tone. And sarcastic, or not, you're not wrong to point it out. Either way, gave me a chuckle on a short break at work.

    Is this update still compatible with 4.23?

    Does it solve the bug when saving Scene Subsets where an error popup is displayed?

    image

    The popup happens twice. Error also happens when saving presets (character, pose, etc).

    Yes, it will be compatible with earlier versions as well.

    I didn't know about this bug. I can't reproduce it. Does it appear each time you save subsets?

    Ok, it's said that updated SaveGuard: Ultimate Scene Saver for Daz Studio Win 64 v1.2 (UPDATE) is live in store. However, I don't see any difference on the webpage. I hope they'll update the page very soon.

    Hi matew,

    Really appreciate this product and what it can do. Thks!

    By the way, is there a commercial thread for "Wearables Manager"?  Can't find it.
    Have a question re: preserving smoothing with 'Not character-colliders' after undress/redress.  Or how can i ask?

    Can you clarify if today's Saveguard is fully updated to v1.2?  Want to make sure the bug fixes you mention in edited OP are there :)
    The reason is Today, exe still shows version 1.0.0.0, but it's the only product i see with May 1st date, same as your OP.  Guessing it is.  But just want to check with you.

    Also found out by accident, your tracking is based on the .png change and not the .dsa.
    Any of my changed scenes were not being tracked and logged.  Ony New ones logged.
    Basically, Joke was on me for customizing DAZ and setting in prefs for icons to not update.
    Did this DS change so that my custom icons are preserved without having to go into folder yet again, and delete again the duf.png.
    I never look at tiny DAZ pics and just use the file-names for scene load, so i never realized this was happening.
    So now I lost 30 minutes+ trying to figure out why i was only getting New saves logged with your saveGuard and not resaved ones, which is the main 'cool' goal here.

    So works now, lol.

    **For anyone, that has a certain custom scene they want loaded up on startup (to save time), And now SaveGuard needs to also be there as well, per his .pdf
    there are, 2 steps to do:

    (1) modify SaveGuard Launch.dsa
    by adding for example
    include("Z:/Daz/_Scripts/Matew Load my duf/Load my Duf.dsa");
    (matew has good instructions in his dsa)

    (2) whereas, this info is not published/easily found, so to add your scene duf to startup (custom widths-cameras etc) (cos you can't have 2 startups AFAIK),
    create a new dsa (make new text file and rename from .txt to .dsa) where-ever you want
    then paste (& change to whatever your path & duf file name is, and not use mine).
    Whatever this dsa filename is, and its path, that's what you'll use in (1) above.

            // DAZ Studio version 4.21.0.5 filetype DAZ Script

            var sceneFiles = [

            "L:/DAZ/Scenes/my_Load SIM ON Render.duf",

            ];

            for (var i = 0; i < sceneFiles.length; i++) {

            var sceneFilePath = sceneFiles[i];

            App.getContentMgr().openNativeFile( sceneFilePath, false ); // Load the current scene (false = Clear previous scene)
            }

    Hi @Saxa -- SD!

    Thanks so much for the kind words and for sharing your experience!

    I actually don’t have a commercial thread for Wearables Manager—when I first released it, I didn’t realize I could make one ;)

    As for the smoothing issue with ‘Not character-colliders’—I haven’t run into any problems restoring smoothing myself, but I’ll double-check to be sure. Thanks for pointing it out!

    Regarding SaveGuard, yes, the version currently online is the updated one. I just reuploaded it, but it looks like they forgot to update the version number on the Store page - sorry for the confusion.

    And yes, you're absolutely right—SaveGuard tracks PNGs. I originally tried tracking DUFs directly, but ran into some strange bugs. Switching to PNGs solved the issue, so I left it that way. I didn’t even realize DAZ had an option to not update the scene icons, so thanks for that insight—very helpful!

    Really appreciate the detailed write-up and workaround as well. I’m sure it’ll help others too!

    Thks for info/confirming on SaveGuard exe!

    Just sent you a PM on the WearablesManager - smoothing issue.  Issue is a bit complex, and likely shouldn't clutter this thread.  Suspect you will find interesting :)

    Just PM you the updated version. I believe this issue is fixed. If it works for you, I will update the script in the DAZ Store.

    Thank you!

    Wow. Fixed. Worked perfect. Thks so much!  :) :)
    For me, there was no way to do that fix other than time-consuming manual.
    So, that's a huge relief.
    Now so much for more fun to move characters with your tools!

    Also, sent you another PM.
    Involves WearableManager and then FlexiKeys. When/if you have time.

    Update: More good finds. Saveguard saves display your iray renders if it's active.  That's so helpful. heart

    great Script ,   exactly  have the Function of  HoneySelect2 Studio 's saving scene system.

    But  when in that  3*3 = 9 thumbnail window,  I can't scroll down ,   if there are 30 scenes in SaveGuard , I can only see the 9 scene thumbnail,    if I want the  15th  ,  I can only click  one by one to see the super big image to know which one is I want .  can  it  be  a scroll down window,  and more options  for thumbnail size and numbers,   like 3*3 ,  4*4,  and  better make it a window  can scroll down  to find the scene while watching the thumbnails moving ,  can it be done in future versions ?

    Since no Wearables Manager thread, will post this here again :)

    Wearables Manager makes sending a character to Hexagon for morph-making an absolute breeze.
    Just did it.
    Have scripts on toolbar of your choice, select undress script, send figure to Hex, make morph in Hex, back to DAZ and save new morph, click script to dress and Viola!
    Before was always a groaner removing all items inorder to send to Hex.
    With this and the raw power of Hexagon (it's not perfect but pretty darn good for morphs), that program so tightly bound with DAZ, can't even imagine using DAZ GeomEditor even with it's improvements.
    Anyway, just wanted to pass on how much of a time-saver this was.
    Been focussed on other 3d things, so this is why just doing & posting now.
    Thks Matew.

    I guess you meant Personas, right?
    Wearables Manager doesn’t use or replace Personas.
    Personas are a very old DAZ feature that defines metadata for interactive tools (like PowerPose handles). It has nothing to do with clothing or managing outfits.
    Wearables Manager is specifically for organizing, fast putting on / taking off outfits, handling materials when geografts are present, and some toggling some material states — completely separate from the Persona system.
