Marsh Mech Walker "Commercial"

AntManAntMan Posts: 2,123

Hello to all. It's been a while since I posted upcoming products, since the "views" function always reads "1" it's really hard to gauge if anyone even cares about any of our posts. I see some with 100 comments and one view, neat trick, while some have thousands of views and no comments.

Anyway I thought what the heck I'd post this guy just for fun. Most mechs have short legs and work for urban combat but for shallow waters or snow or mud... well it goes badly. So I thought I'd make something with a bit more leg.

Cheers,

AntMan

Ooh, that looks right up my alley. I can imagine it as some kind of harvester for use in some alien environment, but adapted for battle with the guns.

Very Cool! Yeah, like the newer war of the worlds movie. Add a suction tub or bendy claw hand from the bottom.

It has a nicely 'retro' look that would do well in a "War of the Worlds" render. Wellsian purists may insist that the Martian fighting machines had three legs rather than four, but who cares what they think?

Nice work, as ever. I don't always follow/comment on your announcement threads, but any new AntFarm release is always guaranteed to get my attention when it shows up in the store.

ETA: If there were a way to shrink/retract the lower leg, so it's not quite so tall, that might be cool too, and give the product some additional versatility.

Thanks! Believe it or not I have three alternate leg styles that I went through while making this, not in the set because I was not 100% happy with them. But to your idea the feet and shins could be hidden and the thighs would become legs. not a perfect Idea but in grass or sand or hidden by dust... It would work. The thighs have the most articulation points. I will PM you a link to the product and you can post your results here.

If I don't buy on the day of the release, I will absolutely wishlist. I am fond of Mechs, no clue why.

And I was woken up by a Sci-Fi/Horror nightmare this morning and one of my cats gave me a shove to help me out of the looping sequence. At 0250 hours.

Thanks! I of course also have a love of Mechs and I have no idea why. It's not a Transformers thing, they are pretty cool but the mass shifting always bugged me. The Star Wars walkers, the very first time I saw them, that was a real WOW moment for me. My cat thinks she's a roster and wakes me at sunrise, all the time. I get up and she gets in the bed and sleeps like it's a shift change at the sleep factory.

Well Charlie cared for his younger brother, a 3paw, and now comes to let me know when it is time to take my nighttime meds and go to bed so we can wake at 0330, even on the night before a day off. He reminds me, if I forget, to refresh all food/water bowls, brush both of them, and then get the raffia mouse on the stick for exercise every morning. And when he wants to sleep, he will have me turn on YouTube for squirrel and bird sounds. He figured out they are NOT in my TV screen so has quit attacking it.

Now Transformers, well my son then in the 80s was in K - 3 grades and we would get home in time to watch the cartoon together. Big bonding time. But yeah, the Walkers are cool. An author friend of my excoriated the idea of them as the computing overhead to just walk a bi-pedal machine was rediculous. Of course that was based on the year 2000 programming languages and storage which would have been like recording on a stone tablet compared to when Star Wars was set.

We have coma along way but I do still like those practical effects. ED-209 robot in RoboCop was primarily a practical effect which was pretty cool. As for cats the want to rule the world, but lack the thumbs.
