Lyna 9

I'm really impressed by this character release today. Lyna's base design looks like a combination of Olympia and Tara 9, with a sprinkle of Sylvia 9, too.  It works for me.  And strangely enough, the Bixie hair, when used on her, gives me a Naomi Scott vibe from Smile 2.  I loved her look in the movie, so that's a win for me.  I'm going to experiment a bit more with the cybernetic augments-what you get in the bundles are very versatile.  And the cybersuit lights up quite nicely-a little too nicely.  I purposely left the emission by default to show the exposure.  I could have turned it down a bit, but I think it works a little bit with the style of the entire render.

Very nice shots, NetherFalcon! She looks so versatile. I'm looking forward to seeing more renders and getting to work with her myself later. laugh

Skin is very Sophia, face is very Sylvia and Olympia, name is Lyna... so many unfullfilled character ideas and here we have yet another young-white-fit-girl  combo. So daring!

She isn't a "young white fit-girl"  She's tan and her features give me more of a hispanic vibe. This coming from a hispanic.

  • Unless a more motivating sale on the bundles turns up, I will wait til next month and use my Premier character bundle coupon. I would've considered buying today with the sort of stackable sale we sometimes get (eg, "get extra x% off if you buy 2 items, bigger x% off if you buy 3 items!"). But lacking that, and involving a genre that I have no story projects set in, I'll wait.

I agree-I got the bundles plus one of the $3.99 vignettes with the sale.  But I had to use my free character bundle coupon with 8 tokens.  With the last April release week, it was a no-brainer for me.  But without that coupon and even those 8 tokens, it's a lot of money.

And here's another render with me using that vignette.

  • I like the cyberpunk theme, but, alas, most of the cyberware, other than the eyes is in the add-on. And **of course** it's another super-skinny bundle with just 4 items. (Yes, I'm Team "HD Doesn't Count.") But I will stick with discussing what is in the bundle.

First, I prefer Millawa 8 over Lyna. The Millawa figure came with several makeup and eye options including a basic cyber iris/pupil eye texture; I don't think even the simple eye makeup in some of the Lyna promos are included, although I can't be sure since I haven't bought her yet. Lyna is not bad and I like her well enough. I also like the 1 Link promo enough to consider downloading him, unlike the other exclusives. (Maybe I'll install in the Alpha release, if I can figure out how to add the Premier-only stuff.)

The hair is good looking, although I wish it was a symmetrical style & not dForce. I love the Xyber eye. Since I have a couple of cybernetic surgeon characters I use for both art & RPGs, I am glad prop eyes with the attachments were included. I wish there were props in the Augments (part of the add-on bundle).

I will probably use my coupon for the character bundle but will probably need to wait on the add-on until I get a few tokens. No discount on it if you're not buying the Stonemason set.

Don't take this as a mean or picky or rude reply, or that I pretend to be the skintone police, but Hispanic is an ethnicity and any person of any skintone can be Hispanic, which I am too. She is white, not snow white but she is still a white young girl. Im only trying to say that we could get a black character after more than 10 samey~ figures, like Angela or Harlow or Xola, more frequently. Or a new old 70+ lady without having to mix Death+Walter+Minerva+Cliff/Donnie. Lyna looks very good and that it's welcomin and at the same time she brings nothing new. Cecelia, Lucas, Charlie, Elena, Sophia, Sylvia, Mateo, Ashley, Chloe... I like most of them, they have memorable faces, but are all young, lean/fit, with mostly light skintones, you can't say none of them are black, old or fat. And we can't say the Heavy shape Addons count as a fat character, because they are not it. If I had to o name a figure that I loved, she is Karmen, she has she has some backrolls and i can tell she was made with care. TLDR: Last 10 or so figures look great, and I'd like to see more dark skintones, body shapes, and ages at the same time.

Nice looking character, great skin textures.

There is nothing wrong with it, just more of the same. Classically beautiful (cheekbones that could cut glass, powerful jawline, symmetrical features, etc).

UnncannyValet and Aarón Hernández (both over on ArtStation) do handsome male figures, but don't have the generic DAZ look about them. They look like people you'd see on the streets, yet still aesthetically pleasing.

Hispanic isn't an ethnicity, but rather a broad geo-ethno-linguistic umbrella. A black Dominican, a Mexican mestizo, a white Argentinian and a Peruvian Quechua are wildly ethnically different, and categorizing them all as simply "hispanic" elides that ethnic diversity.

She reminded me of Sofia Boutella, who is, I believe, of Algerian seed. And Ms. Boutella is an action girl protagonist.

Big ups, Gordig, on the verbal precision.

I thought she is a bit generic, but I bought for the skin and the male option, plus cyberpunk elements.

Since Genesis 9 really is optimized for female-presenting figures I'm sure she will function as expected.

She went in my cart automatically... but not because she blew me away.  Rather, it was because I haven't used this month's character bundle coupon yet and already own everything thing else, so it was use-it or lose it.  .  That said, I'm  disappointed to see that it's yet another anemic bundle, though at least it's not quite as bare bones as Chloe 9 was.

I actually saved my character bundle coupon this month.

I like her. My only moan Is that I would've preferred to have seen the Cyber LIE Details and the Cyber Augments in the main bundle.

Then again. For me, the best stuff always seem to end up in the Add-On bundles.

I get you, and ofc, my wife is Hispanic and light skin, and I'm more coffee with cream. To me lyna is more of that. The classic Puerto Rican tan color when I used her. And sadly things go by sales numbers and those other types of characters don't sell very well. Though yes I'd like some nice new black girl, maybe even an elderly one, but again how well will those sell? Always the difficult thing. Idk how much Cheyenne sold for example but I almost never see anyone use her sadly, and I thought she was great.

She's ok, but there's nothing in her that would set her apart from other "yet another young women." I wish we got more women who are 30-45, because it feels at the moment that in DazLand you're either under 25 or well over 50.

Anything that interests me is in the add-on bundle anyway, but since I don't have any immediate use for them, they'll wait till either the price is better or I need cyberpunk stuff.

This is a great character. Really fun to work with and render. Though I do agree that having some more ethnic characters would be really good to see.

I like her male version, Link. I thought for a while about whether I should redeem my Premier coupon for her, but unfortunately I don't have much time or choice this month. So I decided nolens-volens in favour of Lyna 9. Not only is it yet another female, predominantly white figure - her face also looks a bit too familiar to me. At least three Core Figures have similar facial features. Well, Lyna 9 has a slightly longer nose, but otherwise she could also be called Olympia 9/2 or similar. The cyberpunk theme doesn't interest me at all either.

  • I did end up getting the free Luna bundle but haven't downloaded anything yet. Since I'm holding off on the add-on, I am going to see how the Ark-Tek G8 cyberware fits once I do.

Here's Lyna anime-ized in a style resembling Alita Battle Angel.  I used One Click Anime at 25% to get that look, and used Calypso's makeup.

She looks like she's from upper North Africa or the Levant to me, populations that have been - imo - near invisible in Genesis 9 outside of some Egyptian themed promos that are closer to Elizabeth Taylor than anyone else. In fact, I think I highlighted that area as overlooked on the thread of an older DO release, so I really don't - and can't - have anything bad to say about this character.

In case anyone's reading, native Peruvian/Quechua is another conspicuous absence - again imo.

Some nice details in the face textures. I think her relative ethnicity will depend on the lighting, hair colour, and who you put her next to. The sculpt and bends I’d say pretty typical for the core gen 9 characters: nothing special but no issues worth returning over. The shape is similar enough to other Gen9 characters. (Cecelia https://www.daz3d.com/cecelia-9 seems way too recent for example.)

Rendered here with her HD and default textures, brows and lashes.

I like the tiger stripes. The upper body has more olive tones than the lower body. She is glossy compared to the other core ladies. I bought today’s very un-yoga-like yoga poses if you can’t tell. Need to find a better upside down hair.

Someone mentioned Cheyenne 9, so here they are together with some low light to show the skin reflectivity. Cheyenne’s skin is more cool toned.

Write Idea invoked UncannyValet, so here is Lyna next to Vadim.

I didn’t think I would like the hair that comes in the bundle, but it’s ok with other colours applied (I used one from another set here). There’s no easy way to pose it that I can see.

I tried Link, now that I've given in and upgraded my membership. Rendered with swapped out for less pretty eyebrows and eyelashes. I stuffed up the focus, sorry. Not really to my taste, but I could see him maybe working for a YA audience.  (The dreamlight environment appears to be an AI generated background, which makes things tricky for those who have to disclose AI use, so I’ll probably return it even though you don’t notice the artifacts if you blur it out.)

    Big versions attached.

@sid, lovely renders, thanks for always taking such pains to show the characters in different settings! - Your're writing that the Dreamlight quick vignettes are AI generated, how do you know that? It's gotten me really concerned. There's no note or anything in the product description. Could you specify, please?

    - Edit: I know the thread here is not the right place, but it's just a quick question, so I hope it's okay.

I said it appears to be, I don't know for sure. I'm not sure what else gives that kind of digital artifacts tho. :(

Huh, I see, thanks for explaining! I really think this should be noted in the file description if it is the case. We're supposed to mark our renders in the gallery if AI was used, how will be do that if we just don't know? But I'll leave it at that here to not derail the thread any further.
