The greatness of blender is not so relevant though. You could make those arguments about other software (ableit maybe not much open source). The blender people can make a daz bridge if they want. Daz is teeny tiny so they have to be selective about where they put resources.
Though I would not be surprised if we finally got another bridge...it's been a long time coming. Just not surprised if we don't either.
The point of Daz Studio remains what it always has been. A place to support Daz content. so you didn't have to buy poser or if you happened to dislike poser :) And that is where we regularly see improvements. Daz studio supports Daz content better than any other package out there! Surprise?
A bridge that did much more than the hexagon bridge does seems like a ton of work.
Not sure we could have bridges for every software everyone likes to use in their workflow. Not sure the resources really exist.
I was puzzled too, but the most likely meaning of those I could find is from gaming - Play and Find Out.
I'm with you on this. Why do many tutorial videos come in 720p, rather than true 1080P HD and then compound this by using the darkside style? My eyesight was never brilliant to start with and is not improving as I approach retirement. I have yet to come across a written tutorial that gave me eye strain trying to read it.
Cheers,
Alex.
aaaaaaaaaaah. Thanks! that is probably what they meant and it adds up perfectly.
I didn't only mention Blender. But it is the 800 pound gorilla, if you ask me.
Then publish the API. Let the market make one. Or ten.
Closing the roads will eventually limit the ability for DAZ to go ever higher/ever farther in the industry.
I don't know, Bridges are still there but not exactly the way people seem to think they should be (I guess). I mean we do have alembic export (as well as FBX I think). But i have done things with Alembic and or MDD that seem to help my pipeline which always seems to end up back in Daz studio anyways. MDD out of Daz into Poser for breast movments and such and right back into Studio for the rendering. Also making the clothes dynamic in Studio works this way. The only thing that I havn't done was hair but that might be posible with LAMH (I still need to test that and winter is comeing). I'm sure there are ways of getting Realflow into Studio but I don't own that just yet. I'm always looking forward to seeing whats next with my main software, Zbrush and Studio. But I use all the others to complement them so I keep them up to date as well just in case. Like Richard said a lttle bit farther back use the tools you have and learn what you can. (doesn't change my want for more tools ;) )
I think bridges require more work and maintenence than people realize. Especially to support more than just sending a mesh back and forth. But people tend to oversimplify things.
Its sure does but I'm no teacher, I wish I was. Its just the way I have been doing it. I can say this it was alot of trial and error getting things into Poser and back out again in the begining. I wasn't happy with how Genesis 1 looked via DSON it just wasn't the same with out triax. Point cache on the oter hand keeps the mesh exactly the same way both ways. Thing is with software out there that uses this Tech anything will look like it does in any other software (except the textures sofar that is). But your point was its not easy and you are definately right, its not.
I guess in the begining I had wished that Gen 1 would be more like V4 and do exactly the same in both programs but they did not but I liked the unimesh and that is why I switched from being a Primary Poser user to being a Studio user.
Yup. Play and find out, because sometimes the best way to learn what something does is to try everything you can think of to see how it works.
Blender is impressive and the price is right. But that doesn't seem to make it comfortable for most people to embrace around here. Pretty much everyone I know has tried it at one point. I know about 3 people that like to use it. It looks like they are trying to build more compatability in the base products rather than add bridges that need to be maintained.
Price? what price? Blender is Free = $0,00
