Yes, they probably will call it DS2025. As for the 6.x, my guess is that it refers to the version of the SDK

and what is the SDK again?

DAZ Studio 2025 (6.x) is in the filters on DIM now...

Wasn't expecting to skip 5.0 entirely!

So is this .. as they say .. "it"?

Daz [whatever we're calling it if not 5.0]?

Or is it just something that's cropped up in the filters? I seem to remember something cropped up in the filters a while back and it was shouted as "Daz 5.0 is incoming!!!" or somesuch ..  but it turned out to be a false dawn ..

Do all the omens and portens point to it being time to buckle up and see each other on the other side?

So far all we see is the filter, there has been no download and no change log for the new version.

Daz uses the Qt cross-platform software - Studio version 3 was based on Qt 3, Studio 4 used Qt 4. Qt 6 has been out for some time - so my guess is that Studio 5 would have been based on Qt 5 but Qt 5 has been replaced by Qt 6 . . . (see tag line about change).

Regarding the change logs, I freely admit that my eyes usually start to glaze over a bit when I start reading them before I can find anything I'm interested in.

I know you're not able to give any actual information regarding DAZ Studio 2025 yet, but based solely on the publicly-avaible change logs, can we determine if there'll still be a 32-bit version of DAZ Studio 2025 or do the logs make it look like 32-bit support will be dropped?

Apple dropped 32bits support years ago when MacOS Catalina was launched and, afaik, never supported it on their M chips.

Having said that, no, I don't think we can conclude one way or the others: Daz Studio 2025 is not in the same category of filters as 32 and 64 bits.

I'm assuming that there won't be a 32-bit version going forward, but was curious regarding the change logs, not DIM, just in case. Probaby a false hope.

I'm still using a 32-bit version under Mojave for doing lip syncing; under Mojave 32-bit I can use the built-in version of Mimic (64-bit plug-in made for Lightwave and Carrara, but neither still available for purchase, but never licensed for 64-bit DAZ Studio) and using the 64-bit version under Mojave I can import and hear audio for editing the lip synch and output a single-file movie file (instead of indivisual frames) *with* audio. I can't do any of that from Catelina on. If there will be a 32-bit version of DAZ Studio 2025 that might still have the lip synch included, I'll dig my 2012 iMac out of storage and use it for animation.

Actualy this is, in a sense, publicly available information  (though it had to be pointed out to me) - as shown here https://doc.qt.io/qt-6/supported-platforms.html Qt 6 does not support 32 bit applications.

Actually DS 3 used Qt 4.5

Thanks, Richard, that clearly answers my  question perfectly.
