Help Please - Maybe OmUberSurface (RSL) shader issue

I'm working on  a long-term prioject and just picking up again on a file that I should have picked up on months before, but only just have.  And something seriously problematic has happened to certain surfaces since I last worked on it.  I know it is something I've inadvertantly done because if I load an archive file, the issue is not there.  But I've got no idea what I've done or how to fix it.  It seems it is something to do with the OmUberSurface shader as all the problem outcomes have that as their shader.

Attached are two renders from a similar camera and angle from the archive file  and current (problem) file - the characters and assets are all the same but their posing is different.  A third attachment red-circles the problem surfaces.

Can anyone give me any hints as to where / how I've changed something that is causing this unsatisfactory render on so many surfaces?

Many thanks in advance.

Explanation found but cause unknown.  By cutting down the scene and comparing saved scene subsets, it appears the issue is that the problem surfaces have lost all of their bump, specular and various other important surface attributes and maps.  No idea how this has happened.  My error? Or some corruption somehow?  Probably unknowable, but at least I now know how to correct it.
