First off - I actually really like this figure, as it's definitely a bit more out of the box than usual for DAZ. Yes, it's another caucasian girl, but the small chested, mesomorphic athlete's build is a nice change, and even her face sculpt is rather unique, giving me a 70's "girl next door" vibe ala Cherly Ladd, CHeryl Tiegs, and even a bit of Marsha Brady. All that said, however...
A $94.99 list price for a "bundle" with only 4 items???? What the heck? Is DAZ using eggs in the manufacture of their figures now? Are we being hit with some kind of weird tariff since DAZ/Tafi has offices in Canada? It's only been a few months since the average number of items dropped to 5 from 6 at this price point, and now we're at 4? Marshall Lucky says... well, if you've seen USED CARS, you know what Marshall Lucky says...
Of course, as a premier member I have the option of either picking this up "free" with my monthly coupon, or I can toss in eight tokens and get both the base and add-on bundles for $23.70 together (and that's without using any of the other coupons), but I can't help but feel that the DAZ marketing model has now become so dependent upon convoluted marketing schemes that the average DAZ customer who can only pick up a few items a month is being left even further in the dust with this ongoing price escalation/bundle devaluation.

She looks kind of ordinary in shape and appearence. I'm kind of done with the real world proportions. Would like options.
I don't have much interest. Seems another rather generic, ordinary caucasian female character. And, certainly not at the basic price point.
Just another generic white female, like so many others on this site. Small chests can be dialed in by yourself, same goes for the body shape. Use your own imagination and it will bring you much further then any of those money sinks.
What hair is this?
She's an okay character. But I agree her bundles are too expensive for that number of products. And they aren't special unique things either. She's marketed as an athletic figure that doesn't really look that athletic-Tabitha and Kara have much more accurate fitness models. A small bust size is her main defining characteristic, and that's not really a good thing.
After thinking about it, I think the last true, really unique bundle with a lot to offer, with interchangeable addons that still look good today, was Tara's Pro Bundle. You got the amazing Succubus forms, several outfits, several hairstyles, and they all matched with a theme that we haven't seen since. And Tara herself is a fantastic figure. It was expensive, but at least had a lot to offer so a consumer could rationalize the price.
When I get home from work I'll finish my renders of her and (if she's even released today) the Claire form from Premier.
I love Cecelia though, and her bundle. She wasn't average or basic at all.
As to Chloe, she seems uninteresting to me so far, and I don't care for any of her bundle parts, which indeed are very very few for the asking price.
She reminds me a little of Kelly Ripa. I think she's cute and would have considered it if there was more to the bundle. I might have gotten it as a freebie if I was Premier but it hardly seems worth it for three items (I don't count HD morphs). Struggling to find things to spend tokens, coupons and store credit on before I leave Daz at the end of the month when my Daz+ membership expires.
To be honest, Lilith 7 was probably the peak of idealized figures. After her, everything had to go "realistic", completely missing the point that sometimes having an idealized figure is exactly the point. So, on one side, we see this obsession about realism, on the other hand we get filatoons. The stylized idealization inbetween? Long gone.
Sadly I cannot use Genesis 9 due to the AniMate issue, but I quite like this one and would have bought her as an individual item when a sale is on.
I like that she has an athletic proportion and build to her, and I'm pleased you didn't sculpt-in any obvious muscle definition. It's much easier to dial-in any muscle you require than it is to remove it, so I think that was the right choice.
The only thing I don't like about her (and Genesis 9 characters in general) are the fingers, because to me the gap between the fingers looks way too wide, making the fingers look a bit spindly and alien-like.
heya, I did the promo, it's https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-anika-hair-for-genesis-9
I am regular DAZ+, I bought items yesterday and I used 8 tokens. The Character Bundle cost me $14.81, the HD Add-On Bundle only $11.69, and two texture packs were $2.65, total $34.34 since I had to pay $2.65 tax to my state, even though they don't offer any item equivalent for me to buy.
I went back and looked at the first bundle I bought before I found DAZ+, Lee 7 Pro Bundle was $135.95 and I paid full price for eleven items, or $12.35 per item. Three characters, four outfits, two hairs, two pose sets. I can say that since 2016 I have not used all those items. Or I tested the other characters and moved on. Lee 7 I used over and over again, along with the hairs. Love the Lees.
Chloe 9's items, well I like her, the HD add-on (I preferred when they were part of the main character), and the hair. The outfit, ripped-up jeans will stay unused, but the other items might get used. Too bad there are no textures of the jeans without the rips. I thought they were finally going out of fashion and rejoiced. Personal taste I understand.
But, I pose the idea that these two smaller bundles or the clothes bundle, at a lower price point, allows someone on a tight budget to make a choice on one, and get the others later, where they might have to leave a larger more expensive bundle on their wishlist for months.
What I might have liked to see, another hair product with more morphs. And a dress that a young woman might wear for dinner out with her team or a friend. Easy to pack, easy to wear. Trying to keep with the idea of an athlete, who may have to travel to compete.
I'm not in love with the character, but this may be the first time that there isn't a single item in either bundle that I don't want.
Isn't it more that they have shrunk the bundle sizes so that Premier members don't get much for their free monthly bundle?
I kind of agree with this. As someone who prefers rendering Idealized figures I feel like Gen 9 hasn't really produced a good hit in this range.
So it would seem.
Chloe's character bundle only has 4 items, with one of them being the HD-Addon. That's an issue in itself, where that really shouldn't be a thing. It creates the illusion of a bundle having more items, too. I defer once again to the legendary Tara and her bundle. She's never had an HD Add-on because it always came baseline with the product. Since separating them, it's stuck out like a sore thumb.
Even more perplexing is when you look at Kara's Character Bundle. This is where the HD Add-on became a thing, too. And it features more items even with that factored in when compared to Chloe's. The concern is that we're simply getting less items for the same amount. Furthermore, look at the theme. I can understand wanting Chloe to have a fitness theme, but where's the items to go along with it? We could get fitness outfits, workout poses, yoga equipment, dumbbells...there's a lot to work with. We get one Athleisure outfit which kind of passes, but that's really stretching it.
One of my concerns is that Daz is just running out of ideas, and maybe some PAs are getting burned out by it. The products usually turn out nice, but there's a lack of creativity when putting something together and the overall presentation. Every so often we get a Sylvia, or a Cecelia, but most of them have been so lackluster. Charlie was also a nice surprise, which is one of the reasons I was so disappointed today. I enjoy themed character bundles because they can be fun while being a good way to get assets you might not have in the forefront of your mind. They tend to come in handy, and if it's something you're really into, that's when your creativity can flourish.
I hope for a better release next week.
Maybe because there is probably a lot more premier members this month than last, due to the 15 months annual offer. If there is many members, I assume they will sell less character bundles.
There are also a lot of people who got a free 2 weeks of Premeir; so they may be giving away a lot of the character bundles. None-the-less it seems to reduce the value of my Premier membership.
Here are some renders.
Her normal and curvy form next to each other.
A closeup portrait.
Agreed. I still feel that Genesis 3 had the most striking looking figures overall, with Lilith, Eva, Rune being major standouts, and I still use the G3 figures heavily in my work. Really, the line's only two major fault were that there was no young male base figure and that too many of the base figures were crippled by skins with unique UVs while Genesis 8 was more of an extension of G3 that filled out the age range for young and older characters.
Yeah, funny how the "save save Save" sales push tends to get canceled out by the way the product itself is being packaged.
We'll have to see if we start selling 5 item bundles again. In general, I've noted that once DAZ gets away with a price uptick/decreased value per item change, it doesn't take long for that to become the new standard.
thank you, and great job!
+100, both.
For me, Chloe's body is ok. The face looks completely meaningless and interchangeable. Neither the character nor anything else in Chloe's mini-bundle (with the exception of the hair, but I already own that kind of hairstyle several times) is interesting to me. The same goes for the add-on bundle.
I'm starting to wonder if the 4-item character bundles are really worth the Premier price. If there weren't other benefits to this membership, I'd think about whether I really need it.
I see the render by Netherfalcon of Chloe9 in a top:
And see that there is no complete character specific projection morph if I'm reading the odd shaped wrinkles in the top right. The front of her top looks, frankly, a bit of a mess with odd creases radiating around each breast, having a slight central bulge in the top between the breasts and an apparent crease in the top where the unisex base figure's pectorals go. If I'm right, this shows a terrible missed opportunity to have a small chested 'state of the art' character showing how it should be done for future G9 characters. Instead, I am sadly disappointed. A missed oportunity to get this sort of thing sorted once & for all to show as a reference for how to do it.
Regards,
Richard.
The small bust & muscular legs in both Chloe & Claire, are the classic ballerina build. I just don't do dancers much & if I did do some I would dial spin.
I only buy characters for the shapes and skins, and from initial testing, both seem useful for my purposes. I like the clothing with the bundles, particularly the Casual Elegance Outfit. Both character bundles and the two non-toon texture add-ons were $14 with the premier coupon/8 tokens/gold star/multiple new items discounts, so on balance, worth it for me.
Just one thing... I WANT A LILITH 9!
I don't know... I usually find re-made versions of old characters to be a bit disapointing, so I suspect a Lilith 9 would be the same. Each of the bases seems to have something that it does better than anything else, and It's always seemed to me that a lot of the best sculpts succeed because they happen to work well with the nuances of the base figure. As a result, even when the same artist goes back and tries to recreate the same idea on a different base, the end result ends up being a bit of a compromise. Look at George 7 and George 8, for example... they look very similar but there's just something magical about the original George that the Gen 8 version doesn't quite capture, so even though I own both, I find myself pulling out the original Genesis 3 version a lot more often. Looking back at the last 3.5 gens, Genesis 3 had a bunch of really great "heroic" type characters, whereas Genesis 8 really shined with older characters and younger looking females. Genesis 8.1... well, honestly, I was never impressed by much for 8.1, as it seemed rather uncecessary and redundant. As for Genesis 9, it seems to have found it's "specialty" with even younger looking females, androgynous, and toon characters, but given that there are still issues after all this time, I'm still relying on the 3s and 8s for 90% of my woprk despite owing small mountain of G9 product..
