Install add-on's into the base product?

I'm wondering why add-ons are always installed as separate products? I can't see any benefit at all, instead it slows down working with these products, clutters my library and is just plain annoying. Why not install them into the base product if I need it anyway? Is there any reason for this?

If it is a different PA, they wouldn't use the original creaters folders.
If it is same PA, I don't know.
Do you have an example?
Well, a different PA is an argument I didn't thought about. But there are many examples with the same PA, this one from todays products i.e.:
https://www.daz3d.com/cb-back-to-basics-01-bundle. 3 products, just for some extra textures.
Moved to the Commons as it isn't realy a product suggestion.
Not everyone wantys the add-on textures - they may feel happier using genberic shader presets, or they may like making their own maps, or they may just not like the styles in that particular case. Spliting the product allows people to buy what they want.
I think what's being asked is why the add-ons don't merge into the main product when viewing your content by product listings after purchasing an addon. I figure it's a limitation of the database and likely a good one as I could easily see issues with addons merging into the wrong product or confusion if an addon failed to merge.
The materials are placed in the same folder, so if you look in Smart Content or Content Library all materials will be at the same place.
Only if you look at it from product view it will be seperate, and as it is different products I can't see how it could be merged there.
Exactly, thanks for pointing it out.
Well, the product view is pretty much my main panel to search up items. And I'm working with databases myself and can't imagine it would be much of a problem to write the add-on data to the basic product instead of generating a new one. Best solution would be to ask the user where to install it, if the base product is detected. I would really appreciate it.
Let's note there are addons that serve more than one product such as texture sets for outfits that are sold separately for different generations.
You can right-click on the base and select explore Addons. You an also right-click on a file and select Show Asset In>Virtual/mapeed folder (depending on installation method) - as long as you used the saem method for both that should immediately give all of the materials in one place.
In Smart Content, from what I can see, materials from an textures pack are not visible from the main product:
I don't know if there is a way to merge the two automatically or even manually.
So in your example select the Bucket Bike then right click that. You will have an option at the top to ""Explore Add-ons" if you click that option it will show you textures from expansion items as well as the base textures.
Richard was explaining that you right click the actual base.
That said it doesn't always work.
Oh, I see: it's doing a query to get all entries in the database with the base set in the 'Compatibilities' tab, including the base itself if the base has listed itself in the 'Compatibilites' tab.
It's the case for the bucket bike, so I get to see every Mats presets and the bike itself, but it's not the case for the Belina Bike, so it'll not appear when looking for add-ons (but the H.poses will, so time to convert my poses to H.poses to easily see them):
The Bucket Bike Compatibilities tab:
The Belina Bike Compatibilities tab:
I suppose when it doesn't work, it's because someone made a mistake while setting the metadata.
Thank you for the second explanation, I didn't understand what Richard Haseltine (thank you too) said when I read it the first time.
