Did you ever set DS to open on a different monitor, and now that monitor is turned off? Maybe when you maximize DS it is going to the other monitor where you can't see it.

Your existinmg content directory set up has nested content directories, though, which is undesirable.

    2025-02-02 15:57:20.411 [WARNING] :: D:\DAZDevel\Hudson\HUDSON_HOME\jobs\NB_Studio_Trunk\workspace\src\sdksource\general\dzcontentmgr.cpp(1851): Nested directory encountered while adding a content folder: F:/DAZ/Jack/Documents/DAZ 3D/Studio/My Library/Applications/Data/DAZ 3D/My DAZ 3D Library : F:/DAZ/Jack/Documents/DAZ 3D/Studio/My Library

    That is,

    F:/DAZ/Jack/Documents/DAZ 3D/Studio/My Library/Applications/Data/DAZ 3D/My DAZ 3D Library
    F:/DAZ/Jack/Documents/DAZ 3D/Studio/My Library

you really need to consolidate them or move the My Daz 3d Library to a location outside the My Library folder and link that instead or take everything except the Applications folder from My Library and paste that in a new location/with a new name that you select as a content directory.

    I didn't ever run a two-monitor setup, though that's not a bad thought.  It's definitely minimizing.

And yes.  I have some scenes to catch up on, but un-nesting those directories is on my immediate to-do list.

  • Yeah, this same issue happened to me just now, I tried restarting it, uninstalling/reinstalling and still the UI doesn't show. I get the intro "quick menu" like it usually gives but nothing else.

i can apparently load my characters like normal however nothing else. I just get that minimized window. It was working just fine until then.

Did you try the clean launch test from the previous page?

yeah, that got it to work again. Thought I messed something up while saving a cartoon shader for my Genesis 8 figures.

dunno what I did but I fixed it

Now it's opening minimized even on a clean launch...

Both this time and last time it was a crash after rendering, and both times it was just after shortly after getting notice that Windows would be updating (and before I'd actually done the update).

Windows updates that are pending can, apparently, cause issues - if your applications are closed anyway why not let it do its thing and see if that avoids issues?

That was step one.  Step two was another re-install.  No dice either way.  Is there some way to wipe any traces of Daz3D from my machine so I can start again?

    Try removing

    %appdata%/daz 3d/studio4/

and see if it opens then (withour most settings - I would not delete the folder but rather rename it).

I scrubbed absolutely everything named "Daz" from my computer (including the folder you specified), restarted it, re-downloaded DIM and installed it, restarted, installed Daz Studio and everything DIM said to, restarted again...and nothing.  Clean launch won't work, either.

SHIFT+RIGHT CLICK GETS ME IN!  I don't know why DAZ always opens minimized, but after doing Shift+Right Click the first time, it minimizes and maximizes normally.  I should just have to remap my drives and I'll be good to go.  Thanks, Richard!  I'll see if I can't take care of those nested directories while I'm fixin' stuff.
