Should I make my pose pack for bare feet or w/shoes?

Hey everyone,

So, as the title says - I'm almost finished with my first prop&pose pack I'd like to submit for review, but I have a question:

Should the poses be made for bare feet touching the ground, or for a character wearing some basic shoes?

Is there a concrete requirement or is it up to me how I do it?

thanks

Moved to Art Studio as it is not a Daz Studio aplication topic.

I think poses with bare feet are better. I rarely use the high-heel/tip-toe poses because those don't really match with any of the shoes I use. Still disappointed by those base G9 poses. If I need to match the pose with shoes, then I click on the foot poses that come with the shoes.

The only alternate poses I don't mind are the mirror poses or the ones done to fit different body types. (Base figure and curvy woman like Olympia 9, for example.) But I don't mind their absence.

    Thanks for replying :)

What I was going for are poses made for "standard" shoes like some basic sneakers and such. However I've seen on the store that many poses are made for barefoot models so I guess that's what I'm gonna go with.

I'd suggest that, if you have them already complete with high heels, you bundle the set with high heels and flat feet. If you've not started, do with flat feet.

It has to be said that heels tend to make for better advertising images. I have noticed with my freebies on Rendo that ones with flat feet tend to get fewer downloads. It's difficult to identify exactly why certain downloads become more popular than others, but I have a feeling the promo images with heels look a little more interesting for many users.

If you are constrained by being a vendor, then this request can't be fulfilled, but if you're making freebies you could consider it: If you have the freedom to do so, please consider making the .tip.png images have a largest dimension of 512px (so 512x512px or 256x512px or 512x256px as appropriate for the pose). This is because current screens are such high resolution that 256x256px .tip.png images are really too small to see all the details of the pose, and 512px is actually quite small on the highest resolution screens which can have up to 200 pixels per inch. It means the download is a bit bigger, but feedback I've had is that it's appreciated.

    Regards,

    Richard

Oh my, thanks for mentioning this. I just started doing correction for flat feet poses and rendering the icons and I did them as 256x256. I checked it and they really are small! Gonna do the 512x512 then.

I think the context of the pose set matters.  If it is for example a sports based workout type set,  then flat feet would be the natural choice.

But if it is sophisticated pinup type fashion poses,  then accomodating a heeled foot makes sense. And some users prefer the look of a tip toed feet and legs.

Offering partial poses is also an useful option,  offer a partial flat foot,  and a 4" heeled foot partial pose.

Most shoes offer a partial pose to accomodate the heel of the particular shoes used,  so all things being equal,  a flat foot pose is the most natural starting point.

From what I can see, poses packs I bought here all have the poses built as if the character was barefoot, even when they were created with the feet posed for wearing high heel shoes: there is no gap between the ground and their feet.

I don't know if it's a requirement, but in the end, they are so many shoes that any one using your poses will likely have to adjust them a bit depending on which shoes a character is wearing.
