Help with setting up DAZ3D

Hi DAZ3d-Com,

I have some issues setting DAZ3d up the way I like, first I changed the directory in the Install Manager to my drive D:\DAZ3d and expected everything getting installed to D: , as you will know that is not how it works, so deinstalled everything and before installing Studio and the Rest changed all the Paths to a D: structure, which looked fine and should have worked, except CMS, no matter what I do, I cannot change the path from the Standard C: Path to my D: Path.

This is how my Paths Structure looks:

I looked up the other Threads about this Issue, I cannot change the Path in the Install Manager, or in the Studio, no matter if the Studio Manager is active or not, deleting and copying the CMS content from C: to D: has also not helped in any form. The Studio does not even save the CMS path on my D Drive in the Content Directory Manager or the CMS Settings like CMS on C: is hardcoded or so.

Also I installed Postgre SQL but somehow I still cannot get a connection to the CMS System which might be connected to this issue, but one thing after another. Never had issues like that during setup.

Hope you might have any ideas how to fix this, my D: drive is 4 TB big, that is why I want to have all DAZ3d components on this drive.

Thank you for your attention.

    You can set the database path (the ContentCluster) in Daz Studio in Edit>Preferences>CMS Settings, though the file with the settings (and things like the daz Studio layout information) will always go to the C: drive in the AppData folder. Getting that set correctly may help your connection issue, if not what security software are you using?

    The Problem is, when I change the CMS Settings in the Studio to D:/DAZ3D/cms it does not save the new path, I press Apply then Accept and when I reopen the CMS Settings it shows an empty Path.

    How I want it to look:

    How it actually looks:

    Also my Content Directory Manager shows nothing under my CMS Cluster Directory which I guess should be the CMS´s location?

    For Security Software I use Kaspersky but that one shows no Events since I installed DAZ3d earlier this day, so I guess no interference from there.

    In the ContentCluster on D: is also the postgresql.conf, so its not deleted or quarantined.

    EDIT: Also found in my D:/DAZ3D/64bit/DAZ3D/PostgreSQL CMS so a complete folder that is not connected to CMS?

    Hmm, I wonder if the config file is failing to write - do you have

    %apdata%/daz 3d/cms/cmscfg.json

    and what does it say?

    Yes, I have it, says:

    "DatabaseClusterPath" : "C:/Users/XXXXX/AppData/Roaming/DAZ 3D/cms",

    "Port" : 17237

    Different Path than in the Studio under CMS Settings it says Port 1024.

    Cannot change the Port in the CMS Settings Menu to 17237.

    Also copied the cmscfg.json to D:/DAZ 3D/cms and changed the DatabaseClusterPath to this Path, changed nothing.

    EDIT: Maybe I have to install DAZ3D to C: with the Standard Folders, which is not really an acceptable solution, but I am willing to compromise and just outsource the Package Archive to D: to safe space on C:.

    That sounds as if something is blocking access to the file - I can't see how the DS install location could be a factor. Try removing that JSON file, with DS closed, then start DS and set the desired values.

    Tried this before, without any improvement, I just finished reinstalling everything to C: and it directly offered me to connect in the Studio, overall a pretty disappointing outcome, I really cannot understand why the Installer does not offer "Hey you want to install DAZ3d to another Drive? Here choose Paths for the different Subfolders." But yeah, its what it is and now its working. Thanks for the effort and have a nice day.

    You have to firstly copy cluster folder from default location on C drive to the target folder on D drive before configuring the Cluster path and Port in F2, i.e.:  %appdata%\DAZ 3D\cms\ContentClusterD:\Daz 3D\cms

    (If you've not installed any product with default cluster folder on C drive, better install a couple of Starter Essentials beforehand... That was what I recalled ~~)

    cmscfg.json file is used by DIM rather than Daz Studio, so after you make the new path work with DS, you need to configure the same settings in DIM > Advanced Settings > Installation tab

    Edit: If you have DS Public Build (beta version) installed, you must do the same configuration ! as the metadata synchronization will be problematic ~~

    The Advanced settings in Install manager do allow you to configure paths separately, though additional content diectories (if you want them) need to be added in DS itself. DS won't pick up on settings, other than the Content Cluster path, from DIM.

    Thats what I attempted roughly an hour ago, copied the ContentCluster and the Config both to the CMS folder on D: and edited the config to fit the path on D: and the port to the same as in the Studio, but as I said, the Studio never saved the changed CMS Folder for whatever reason. And as I said, I reinstalled DAZ3d to C: and its fully functional now.

    Its not how I wanted it to be and it is a bad first impression, but at least I can use and test it now. Still appreciate your effort.

    No... Firstly, you should Stop cms service in F2 > CMS Settings. Then configure the new path and new port if you want to, hit Start button to make sure cms is re-started. Then Accept.

    Edit: But that's correct... installing to default location on C would be always the best option.

    The config file 9and other settings files) have to stay in AppData, as I said above - which means on C:. The database can be moved, however.
