[has DAZ3D blocked Google site search] it still works AFAIK on Safari on my iPad but definitely not on Chrome or copying the hpclscruffy appended link to Edge

IE thing I am looking for site:daz3d.com

example https://hpclscruffy.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/143936/dialogue-we-don-t-need-no-stinkin-dialogue

gives an oops, it's a link to a post by me in a discussion about Goldberg machines AFAIK where I made a rollercoaster in Carrara

I am getting this for everything

removing the extra [character string] fixes it

https://daz3d.com/forums/discussion/143936/dialogue-we-don-t-need-no-stinkin-dialogue

and low and behold not the thread I was even looking for

so is hpclscruffy actually there to destroy search engine results????

before someone links me yet again to the scruffy thread

I know about that thread but good luck finding it on desktop devil

  • It seems to be working when I try. I just searched for some random posts I had made, but it appears to be linking directly to daz3d.com

  • I'm using Chrome (Desktop) and when searching "Daz 3D" a lot of sites come up, including the main page with nested links.  And typing "daz3d.com" in my searchbar brings me directly to the main page.  No issues at all when using my phone, and that's with Safari.

Since only some search engines give the hplscruffy sub-doamin it is presumably because they are doing something daft, not Daz. I frequently find links to Micosoft's ownb site, rturned by Duck Duck Go (so Bing) fail. Search engines are poor and getting worse - if you want a conspiracy theory why not "it's all a plot to make AI look good"?

I imagine it's not a deliberate thing. hpclscruffy.daz3d.com is just an additional server that normally runs a copy of the codebase but for some reason it's not quite working right at the moment. I don't know if it's a test server, backup server or something else. If it's a test server then perhaps they've rolled out an update and it currently has some bugs. There was a mention in another thread that some of the servers were having issues which had lead to issues downloading so it might be related to that.

yeah, I was too quick to blame DAZ since Google search on Safari works fine

Bing has been awful since they added Ai for any sort of search to be honest

don't know what is going on with the Chrome browser and DAZ

Safari also has the blessing of not doing the cookie popup every other browser does, at least for now

that can change and in the past did

Everything works fine with Firefox and I hope it stays that way.

We spoke with Daz about this and they said that the search engines should not have been using those sub-domains in the first place, and it isn't clear why they were; they should now update over time to use the main www.daz3d.com addresses
