this is now affecting my ability to use other software

I need Nvidia Workbench but D|S has memory issues with later drivers rendering animations

and worse there are security issues with the driver 561.09 I am forced to use in order to render image series animations in DAZ studio

not all D|S users just do single images

This is not soemthing that the daz developrs can do - it is the nVidia drivers and the nVidia rendering application

well the latest Studio driver seems to not ramp up VRAM

just did 1K frames with it staying more or less the same each frame

this driver doesn't seem stable though

rendering in iray my monitor which is plugged into the card blackscreened but fortunately it recovered and it kept rendering

the other monitor using the mobo integrated graphics remained on

also the viewport is exceedingly laggy

The blackscreening might be a PSU problem. It sounds exactly like the problem I was having until I replaced my PSU. After that I never had another monitor blackout again. Something to consider if you haven't already.

the latest one got uninstalled and rolled back pretty fast

it went nuts completely ignoring my MSI Afterburner curve settings ramping up heading to a blackscreen if I hadn't stopped the program I was using in time

wasn't going to test it on DAZ studio too
