Ich bin müde! Gute Nacht.
Some of my "needs a towel but not one of the good towels" are from my parents' first apartment, likewise in the (early) 70's. Might be thin, but they're still great for when I have to throw something down in the trunk before putting the pumpkins in, or whatever! I have some powder blue and pink ones from when I was a kid, too... Mom never threw out a towel, but I think she was pretty glad when she could offload some of her stash. That shelf in the basement was getting pretty packed.
Good night!
"I am," I said to no one there. And no one heard at all, not even the chair.
Complaint: The electricity is off. I hate when that happens.
Whelp, yesterday (Monday), high was 50. Today (Tuesday night) we're in the middle of a blizzard.
Because Minnesota.
And granted, we're two feet short of our normal snowfall, and it is only March, but still.
Salty cold water also helps get rid of the stains if the blood is reasonably fresh and you haven't got any Hydrogen Peroxide.
Regards,
Richard.
Welcome to the I Already Washed My Bloodstained Rags in Hot Water complaint thread.
I wish I could reach my sweetie right now to fihpout plans for tomorrow.
Non-complaint: The electricity is on.
Went to a charity that gives out free food and clothes. Non compliant they had eggs. Complaint no milk. I want fresh milk but not today.
Thursday it is, prefer a great day, I would.
Regards,
Richard
These two guys are on the case of Thursday.
Today I reconnected my streaming device. I am watching a show called Fallen. There is a psychiatrist that reminded me of Dr Julian Bashier. I went to the wrong IMDB website due to a typo. I went to the right site and looked up the Fallen show and looked to see who played their doctor. It turns out both doctor characters were acted by the same guy, except that the character in the Fallen show looks much older than Dr Julian Bashier.
This Day In History...
Today on this day in 1475, Italian Renaissance painter, sculptor and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, Michelangelo was born in Caprese, known today as "Caprese Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni Ragazzo-tartaruga", a small town near Arezzo, Tuscany.
Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni Ragazzo-tartaruga as he was named by his parents would later go on to be known only as "Michelangelo" for trademark purposes.
In his early years he was an avid graffiti artist, painting elaborate frescoes on ceilings clandestinely in the night and carving random blocks of marble into nude statues when nobody was looking.
He would also later be known for his crime fighting work protecting the city of Florence* from various criminals and pizza thieves.
Even though Michelangelo is often referred to as a "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle" he didn't actually become a licensed ninja until he was 21 years old, but his youthful appearance and not-so-clear skin lead many to believe he was only a teenager.
He protected the city of Florence until 1498, when he fell into the sewer through an open manhole cover and was transported to modern 1980s NYC through a time/space anomaly.
* The former city-state of Florence once belonged to the Etruscans, who's religion relied heavily on bird based predictions and was later named by the Romans after the giant kaiju Florence Nightingale who founded the city after her battle with Rodan in 59 BC. The Romans, who originally intended the city as a retirement home for old soldiers and proposed to call it "Vetus Miles Terram" according to sales brochures at the time, also revered very large birds. Today Florence is known for its funky old bridges, jewelry shops, being the "birthplace of the renaissance" and its many strange smells that evoke a variety of reactions.
I was just about to play with DS but I just saw that my computer wants me to restart it for an update.
Ah, turtle history and space/time theories. This must be the Internet.
Non-complaint: My cold, hacking, coughing, nose-blowing, sore throat seems to be gone. Yay! No more Nyquil.
Complaint: Pink-Eye still hanging on, although subsiding slowly. Left eye better than the right.
Complaint: Zeros days since a bloody nose. Nasty one today. Sitting peacefully watching TV, ate lunch, was taking a sip of water, but it wouldn't go down. Desperately gagging on a huge clot that came out of nowhere into my throat. Unable to avoid ejecting and spilling the water infused goop over myself, my chair, the floor. Pinched my nose for 20 minutes and stopped the flow, but coughed up spots of phlegmy bloody residue for 20 minutes afterward. Now I get to test those cleanup suggestions from a couple days ago. Wheee...
Non-complaint: No need to make a trip uptown this coming week. Can probably wait until I get paid again for another mini-adventure or Amazon order. Nose doctor appointment the week after. I'm going to insist he take more interest in my situation.
I was going to do something before going to bed. Can't remember if I did it or not, but I did forget what it was.
I think that happened to me, also. I can't be sure because my recall is bad.
Non complaint: My 115 year old garage is being rebuilt.
Complaint: The fact it had to be rebuilt.
Some noodle with a 20 tonne truck reversed into it. Twice, because once wasn't enough. And came within 2" of demolishing it on top of my car. 2" further and one of the brick walls would have toppled over instead of just cracking and bending. The rebuild started yesterday when some of the bricks were removed along with the door, doorframe and the roof was propped up. Due to be finished on Wednesday next week.
Regards,
Richard.
What takes more data? Streaming a video or downloading it
Yikes! So glad that wasn't worse than it was, but what a pain, regardless. I assume the noodle has to pay for the repairs, at least?
I think the downloaded video will use more data because files meant to be played offline are usually encoded with a higher bitrate than streaming media.
Non-complaint: Feeling much better this morning. Cold nearly over, but still small amounts of throat phlegm to deal with. Eyes still a little itchy and pinkish, but no crust or drainage. No nosebleeds today, so far. Cleanup after yesterdays nose debacle was easier than expected. Only a little dime sized spot on my sweatpants, a couple blotches on my washable chair seatcover(good investment), and spots easily removed from bathroom tile floor. Almost back to "normal".
Complaint: Cold and Pink-Eye treatments have left my eyes sunken, and the skin around them dry and wrinkled. I'm starting to look my age.
Non-complaint: Being sick has made it easy to get my weight back down to reasonable.
Three years ago I was 250. Dieted myself down to 210. Heart attacks & hospital food in October shrunk me to 192. Bounded back up to 200 but now 192 again, heading for 185. Doctor says I should be 175. Ha-ha
Complaint: Still need to get to grocery for bananas, milk, eggs, salad makings, fresh fruit. Walking even to the local grocery two blocks away is an exhausting deal. I live on Escher Rd. so it's uphill both ways.
It's a little complicated. The 1920's bungalow opposite is being modernized, and the truck driver was being guided by the foreman of the site. As a 'gesture of goodwill' the company modernizing the bungalow is paying for it. I suspect they are going to try to recover a percentage from the truck driver's insurance. Fortunately, the detail is not really our problem.
Regards,
Richard
Well, at least the noodle didn't feign innocence:
I am back home and doing another render of the same guy but different textures including the hair textures. I am thinking of taking a nap instead of watching a render progress.
Non-complaint: To celebrate becoming un-sick again I decided to make a scalloped potato casserole. Mmmm... scalloped potatoes. Simple recipe.
Base sauce: Campbells condensed mushroom soup, whole milk. 3 to 1
Ingredients: Sliced potatoes, chopped onion, diced ham, mushrooms, flour.
Process: Slice potatoes about 1/8-1/4 in. thick. Mix base sauce to desired consistency, mix in ingredients (except flour), grease deep casserole dish, layer sauce / flour / sliced potatoes then again sauce, flour, potatoes,... repeat. End with sauce on top, if sauce too thick, pour 1/8-1/4 cup milk over the top. Cover & bake at 375F for about an hour & a half until sauce is bubbly and turning golden brown and potatoes & onions are thoroughly done (maybe 2 hours). Remove from oven, layer Velveeta cheese slices to melt on hot casserole before it cools. Mmmm... cheesy scalloped potatoes.
Complaint: Got the soup cans open then discovered I had no milk. But I did have some powdered milk for emergencies so had to make a batch of that. Discovered that I didn't have any empty bottles for the milk so I used a 2-qt pan. Greased two casserole dishes (3-qt & 2-qt) but only had enough mix for the big one because half way through layering the ingredients I'd discovered I didn't have enough flour. Had a bunch of sliced potatoes left over. Half way through baking I discovered the chopped ham that never made it into the mix. The casserole dish overflowed into the oven, making a burned mess. So concerned with burned stuck lid and messy oven that I forgot to layer the Velveeta cheese.
My excuse? I've been sick.
Non-complaint: Was good anyway.
And the diced ham and Velveeta can be mixed into a bowl of cold casserole and microwaved for that hammy, cheesy taste. Mmmm... cheese!
...I've used those before.. One doesn't have to muscle it around as that's how it goes out of control. It simply takes alight touch on the right handle. moving it slightly up to move right and down to move left san keep repeating that to move side to side
Non-complaints: 1. The potatoes au gratin sounds very tasty. Must try. 2. Husband finally put the venison a friend gave us into the crock pot the other night with some potatoes & carrots. It was wonderful. (PS: my tablet thought it should be "potatoes Audible," which doesn't sound nearly as appetizing, but I caught it.)
Complaint adjacent: I probably won't be getting ham until posts Easter when I can get a big one for < $10 here. (Pre-Easter sales aren't nearly as good.)
Actual complaints: 1. No Campbell's French onion soup, although we have both the cheese & bread-making ingredients to fix it properly, and I don't want to go near a store after work. 2. Somehow we have gotten several cans of cream of chicken & cream of celery soups but no recipes for using them. (Although a bit of the chicken mixed with cooked rice is a nice side for baked chicken.)
