Can't add interior for building
I have been trying to add the interior to the, Old West Mercantile Building, and no matter what prop I click on nothing happens.( This is with the building selected). Then when I un-select the building and click on a prop I get an error message. (see attached images) I thought I could just click on mer_interior and it would add it to the scene, but that isn't adding it. What am I missing, is there something else I need to add first?
Thanks

You are trying to apply materials to the interior model. You need to load the interior model first - it will be under:
Poser Formats - Character (I think) - O_W_Mer_Int - ! Preload
For this particular product you need to install both the DS and the Poser files through DIM (if that is what you use).
Where do i get the Poser file? I have installed the DS with DIM, but I don't see any Poser file to install.
Go to your library in Daz Studio where it says Daz Studio Format and Poser format and select Poser format. I can't grab a screenshot atm.
Do you have download filters that are blocking Poser files? In DIM settings make sure that Poser is checked.
Alternatively you could go to your Product Library here on the DAZ site HERE and download the Ps file manually, then copy it into your DIM downloads library, start DIM and it should show as ready to install.
I had posted a descussion in DAZ Studio Discussions ( Can't Add Interior For Building) and tried all the suggestions by other users. And I still cannot get the interior to load. I have the old west mercantile building in the scene but when I try to add the interior it won't.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the mercantile DS and the mercantile Interior DS and still, I can not get the interior into the scene.
This is quite frustrating, I can't use something I purchased. I had purchased this a few years ago and now need it for a scene.
I am not sure what I am doing wrong.
But as I asked in your other thread, have you actually installed the Mercantile Interior PS file? There is no way it can work unless you do that.
Threads merged, and moved to Technical Help since they are a content rather than a Daz Studio application topic.
Once you have installed the Mercantile Interior PS file, you should find an item called "!Preload" in your smart content for the Mercantile Interior product. Use this to load the interior.
@MelanieL is correct. Many of the older files have the geometry in the Poser files, not the Daz Studio ones, which were often only DS textures. And even when some of the Daz Studio ones are updated years later to include geometry, if there were add-on material/texture sets for the main file, they may not be updated and you still need the Poser file installed so the material/texture set to work. This happens if the texture artist has left and closed their store at Daz.
I did the maual download of PS files, unzipped them and still nothing, this was the Mercantile Interior PS files that I downloaded.
And I do see the !preload, but when I click on it, nothing happens.
When you say "nothing happens" - do you still have the Old West Mercantile building loaded? The interior will be inside it, but you can't see it from the outside. What happens if you hide the building? I see the interior when I do that. And in the Scene pane I can see two preload items: the building and the interior.
I can put the mercantile building into the scene, but there is nothing inside, it is just the outside of the building. If I hide the building there is nothing in the scene. There are two building preloads, but the interior does not loads with either of them.
You are in the Daz Studio Formats area, you need to load the interior model from the Poser Formats area and then you can aply the materials for Daz Studio to that.
I installed via DIM and when I look in Smart Content under the Mercantile Interior product there is a file called !Preload, which does load the interior for me.
If you installed manually you won't have created Metadata for it (there is some, even though the files themselves are Poser .cr2)
If you want it in Smart Content then try updating metadata for PID 8889 in Daz Studio using the Content DB Maintenance function (just select the lines with 8889 in them, not the whole list, or it could take a long time)
Otherwise in the Content Library pane you need to pick "Poser Formats", then "Characters" (or maybe it is called "Figures" I can't quite remember which) then "O_W_Mer_Int" and load the file in that library that is called !Preload.cr2 . Once the interior model is loaded you can use the DS Materials that you already found.
[Edit to clarify my remarks on Metadata]
Well thanks everybody for your help. But for some strange reason it just won't load the interior. So maybe there is something weird with my computer, some glitch or something. Or I am just brain dead.
And I am pretty sure there is nothing wrong with my computer. So just me being brain dead.
Thanks again for all your help!!!
Please post a screnshot of what you are using when you try to load the Interior.
