Gallery Images

Since I've been away it seems like the galleries have changed.  So now may I just upload my images to my gallery?  Are there still contests?  Do you have to be a Platinum club member to enter contests?  I gave up my PC membership when I wasn't doing much CG work for a while; but now it's changed.  I know images submitted to the galleries need to be appropriate, but where can I find the rules?  I assume there is still no nudity allowed even if it's of a non-sexual nature.

The TOS outlines the gallery guidelines.  click on terms of service at the bottom of the page to read it.

You create a gallery by going to your account and clicking Gallery.

The PCI and Monthly PC render contests obviously you have to be a PC member, as htye are held in the Members Only forum

The Bryce and Carrara contests are held in the program  forums,  The freebie CHallenge is held in the Freebie forum.

There aren't really any other contests

Yes, no competitions on the Gallery, just Galleries

Wait ... last year's PC Anniversary competition was in the Gallery. We had to tag things with "pc2014" so they could get picked up for it. Granted, it was a way of populating the gallery when it had just opened, but still. So theoretically, I suppose this year's competitions could be there as well. However, it would have to be correctly tagged for that; it wasn't automatic, because the gallery has no way to tell who is and isn't in the Platinum Club.

(That said, there haven't been any other PC contests in the gallery that I'm aware of, although we have been requested to tag our images so that they can put them into a PC images sub-gallery ... (and that said (a) I don't think that gallery ever materialized, and (b) in the latest update to the gallery, it seems that all the tags have become invisible. They're still there -- I think -- but you can't see them any more.)

Actually, if you carefully remove the hashtag from the url line and refresh the page you can see the tags

    Ah, OK. Thank you.

... Has anyone ever told us what that hashtag does? I mean, I'm guessing that it calls some Javascript function, but since the gallery works better without it ... what does it do, exactly?

  • there are pc gallerys but what gets added to them is up to the admins guess Jack is one since he started the thread but he hasn't commented since July 1, to submit well to apply for submission you have to tag each picture you do while being a member as pc but doesn't mean it'll be added to these galleries just the ones the admins pick link to the pc galleries -

I seem to recall it is something to do with all the different devices that people use to view the Gallery.

By the way, thanks that the galleries can now be seen and the renders voted for using firefox !
