Basically, if they are rigged by Poserworld, then they will need to be sold there.  It's more of an exclusivity thing than anything else.

    what is persona au graten??

He meant persona non grata, Latin for an unwelcome person. But it's a really funny malaprop!

On the sales tax thing: Daz would be breaking the law if it didn't collect sales tax in those states that require it. There is no VAT system in the US; state sales tax is collected at the point of end sales, because it is a use tax. Some sStates like California have an exemption on sales of digital goods. In fact, when Daz changed their cart a few years ago, they started to charge CA tax, and I spend several days sending them California State Board of Equalization links to show they were collecting tax for when no tax was due.

Except that's not true.  The Poserworld guys do contract work for a flat fee as well as run their own store, so the product could be sold anywhere. I imagine the real concern would be more about how long after the work is done does the buyer have the ability to request fixes/changes/updates.

    Persona non grata maybe laugh

    not nearly as tasty.

It's all in context.  To wit:  The cannibal became persona non grata at his cooking club after serving persona au graten with a Sauvignon Blanc instead of a nice Merlot or Pinot Noir.

I didn't know that they did outside work like that...I always thought that if you went through them, you had sell through them (isn't that the way it used to be?)

You misunderstand the level of effort. Rigging, the part of the job you're offering 30% for, is 80-95% of the work. There's

I think Daz is keeping 50% anyway, so the most one could expect is the other 50%. Offering 30% is not that bad at all (still only 60% of the vendor's share instead of 80% for 80% of the work), but how much work it is, is not an exact science anyway.

The 50% DAZ keeps is deductable as an expense if you're a company (at least where I am), so you won't have to pay tax of these which makes the profit a bit higher, how much depends on where you are.

On the other hand, DAZ is not charging sales tax so you have to put that on top of the price as your local tax department will charge you for that.

Depending on the State the customer is in, DAZ most certainly IS collecting sales tax.  As an unfortunate resident of Texas, I get hit with a whopping 8.25% on most purchases here.

I recall there was a discussion about that once, but AFAIK it's still only a few US states DAZ collects sales tax for. BTW, 8.25% isn't that much, we pay 25% in sales tax for everything here in Denmark, plus 46-55% income tax (the highest taxes in the world actually). Corporate tax is fairly low though, about 23%.

"I was close wink; yes I was aware of the software he used, but as I was unaware of the process, I didn't know if he could convert exising items made by someone else."

He does not do the modeling, rigging, etc. Martin who goes by optitex but is not an employ there (he inherited the name sort of) does that part.

So is the vendor name going to be Camaave?  Has a ring to it. Anyway, would love to see you two partner up. Good luck to both of you, hope it works out!

Indeed; not a big requirement for her style, but there are some I use and they are excellent.

Nice clothes, what modeling program do you use? I hope you find someone to work with.

MD. I've seen her MD tutorials :). She knows her way around the program, that's for sure ;)

Hi JaguarElla, Thanks for your reply.  I've tried to use the transfer utility and it always screws up my clothes, they go into the model's body, into her skin, or get stretched out in weird ways. :(

That's odd. I've used MD and the transfer function always works to do a simple rig. Simple being the operative word, no JCMs or anything. But since I do still renders pretty much exclusively and can tweak the clothes as needed prior to render, no problem for me. But I've never seen them poke through the body.  Tells me you may have a process issue with how you're using it.

EDIT: One exception, when I've done sleeves that rolled up, at the elbows where the mesh is bunched up I've seen problems. So I don't really do that.

By the way, MD clothes can be good for simulation in dForce but I've found it hit or miss. Sometimes they blow  up, especially if I've added any sort of double layers for cuffs or collars, to imply thickness. But if you don't do that, you could also probably include dForce compatibility as a selling point.
