What a nice set of room components! Not limited to ultra modern styles, either.

I gather that one can use whatever walls in whatever arrangement one chooses. Is there a wall with a door?

Sorry, I don't do Facebook. Will wait to see it in a store.

    Doors? Please?

Second that - I don't see a point to a room with no doors.

A whole set with doors are coming in one of the first few expansions.  Interior passage doors, exterior doors with and without sidelights, sliding doors, french doors, bifold doors, etc.

And yes, walls can be arranged in any position.  Each of the 6 walls has 4 default positions that can be loaded:  Front, Left, Right, and Back.  Since Daz Studio doesn't have vertex snapping (at least that I know of) that was the best way to insure that the walls all lined up with each other perfectly in every position.  There are global material presets individually for wall color and each level of trim (window casing, baseboard, chair rail, wainscot batten, wainscot panel) as well as an OFF setting for each piece of trim.

Funny you should mention that... I was literally adding that to my forum signature as you were typing.  Thanks for reminding me psychically!

Good to hear about the doors - and thanks for the position helpers!

The Align tab has only old documentation where the pictures are lost ...

The Align tab will get you most of the way there, but it's not as robust as the alignment features in other 3d software.  Most of the other things in the set will require the use of Align to get them into position.  But I felt it was important to make sure the walls were always lined up perfectly to avoid seams!

  • your welcome it helps gain interest in your new product if customers can see your previous products and quality of them. Like the windows looks like you can get some nice lighting through the scene that way just like in real life the more windows the better the lighting via natural light be good for a photo studio type setting

I'm glad I went back to see how your "Likes" were doing, as somehow the first time I missed the bit about Liking the contest post. I Liked the page instead. Now I've Liked the post. Shared it on FB, and tweeted the FB link, too.

The set looks really good, and I love the fact there will be expansions sets. Your Farmhouse is one of my favorite sets, so I'm really looking forward to Create-A-Room.

  • Wow, good thing you decided to go back.  Thanks for the share!

5 days left, for those who haven't entered yet.  Head on over and throw in your hat!

  • 4 days remaining in the contest!  Still plenty of time to get in on the action!

  • 3 days to go!  Winner(s) will be announced the morning of 9/15/15!

    I'm feeling exctied. :)

  • 2 Days!  Get on over and like the contest post if you haven't already!

  • Last call!  A little over 30 hours left until the contest ends!

  • Either way, I'm looking forward to checking out the mesh to see how you put it together.

I think I solved a lot of the design issues I encountered as well as possible, given that there are certain limitations with the Daz software (like lack of vertex snapping, etc).  Each wall has 4 position presets, so you can load a wall into perfect alignment and rotation on all 4 sides of the floor.  All the trim is part of the mesh, and is hidden or shown through material presets.  This saves the user from having to try lining up tiny trim pieces.  Each wall can then be moved, if desired, to create narrower rooms or passages.  And the unwraps for each of the main pieces (walls, floor, ceiling) are fairly simple and high res, so it's also pretty easy to change colors or add additional tile or wood options.  The main wall/ceiling color is off-white, which is also easy to color with just the diffuse slider.

Hopefully you all will agree about the ease of use.

We shall see, certainly. But then I suppose it'll depend on how long it takes me to lay hands on a copy. Maybe make some chintzy wallpaper or something.

Yes, I'm planning to, for sure.  If not for every new set, at least for the "major" ones.

Congrats to the winner. I'm envious. laugh

Now... When will the rest of us be able to get our hands on it? LOL

(I checked the DAZ store, and had to search to find you. Apparently DAZ has changed your vendor name from nfxstudios to Collective3d... http://www.daz3d.com/collective3d ...  Yay!)

Yep, had the vendor name changed to reduce confusion.  NFXstudios was my business name for many years, but when I got together with the original crew who was supposed to work on the Blue Collar series with me, they wanted to come up with their own brand.  Then they stopped working, and I was stuck with my branding halfway between NFXstudios and Collective3d.  Decided to just go with Collective3d.

As to when Create A Room will be available to the general public... that's up to the Powers That Be!
