lost viewport, how get it back?

in New Users

trying to follow user guide instructions on changing viewport background from blue to grey, now have entirely lost viewport and cannot find out how to return to usual setup. Need help please because cannot import any scene..

    You can either go to Windows > Panes and click viewport.

    Or you can go to Windows > Workspace > Select Layout, where you can select a layout (or load a customized if you have saved one).
