  • The new logo, its a head who's brain explodes out the back, I knew it!!!! devil

The video is pretty cool -- although, I will admit, having the logo more or less as an exploding head is ... icky -- but the autoplay/suggested videos that come up beside it are truly hysterical.

Kind of love watching the logo morph. Nor do I see an exploding head, guess my brain just does not bend that way.

when i see that hair i think more of frida though.....

  • so that means Eva 7 is the new face of Daz, Vicky must be pouting and getting her knickers in a twist screaming I'm the face of Daz not her

Nope. Eva's vid was just the first one completed I think. Pretty sure there will be more.

As a Character animator I must comment that most of the animation looked "floaty" and lacked weight.
( see the first 12 seconds)
this can happen when there are no "holds" as the character transition too smoothly from one canned aniblok to the next.
I suggest for the next showcase you bring her into Iclone and use the "mixmoves " feature for more realistc animation.

so I got out the vertex modeler and exploded her head

I was bored while rendering something

If only DS had proper animation settings! I am used to animating in Maya and there is just too much stuff missing in DS for me to create a proper animation.

Graph editor with the animation curves is a very important feature for example. And the ability to move keys around and "resize them", without this I just cant animate anything : D

But DS is primarily a posing program for still images and the video is very lovely! And Eva is beautiful as ever : ) And the logo is GREAT! Good job!

    looks like forensic data.

I wasn't impressed with the animation either, but I won't critqiue it to be nice. At least they are trying. I think they need more though...Eva was kinda creepy to look at most of the time.

For new hobbyist, I think many might find that video eye catching though. For those with seasons under their belt might not be as easily impressed.

I want to see a short promotional daz video that makes me say "nice". Please give Aiko a soul and personality if she returns. Or any of the toons. just doing (partial) turntables or walk cycles isn't really enough for the pros, or tweaning from one pose to the next isn't top shelf. Daz should position themselves as an authority (even if they are not, new users dont know that cheeky)

if animation isn't the teams forte, or time does not permit, incorporate some great stills! people still like those on youtube :) It was actually a compilation of Daz figure stills that caught my attention on youtube years ago :)

similar but not thinking it is quite it .... :-(

  • My head missing some too

    well it did explode

if a hand should have two more fingers but I think the logo is solid there like a mitt.

As we only see the right side is a bit hard to guess full logo shape.

maybe DAZ can give us a 3D model of it to print as a keychain.

  • The hair on Eva 7 doesn't seem to fit her head around the temple region. And she walks a bit like a rooster with a lot of head thrust.

Logo in big size look very well and muy bonito (only in this size, in firefox tab looks like a fish...after plays with a cat)...but in animation...her eye explodes!!! cryingcryingcrying

There are a Graph editor and a key editor por DS, but are PA products. I ignore how good this products are.

  • I agree that the animation isn't all that good.  However, the promotional video is just advertising a product, not the animation capabilities of the software.  At least I hope not, since no CG animation artist would put that in his/her portfolio.  I made posts critical of the posing system in DS a while back, and I don't expect things to improve, unfortunately.

Promo video of 3D characters by a "3D company" should show said company are leaders in the field. Just like if you sell clothing you make sure the models are dressed properly and combed their hair before the shoot.

Not only that, but if Genesis 3 is being marketed towards game development studios, I would love to see something imported into Unreal Engine 4 and animated to show off the capabilities of the products.  For all the "realism" of Iray, the future seems to be real-time rendering in game engines, some of which can already do amazing things in the hands of AAA studios.

daveleitz, not unreal and not g3 but they are sticking a toe into the game development pool. https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/content/38086

I confess..I thought the animation was cool..just the walking bit.  Might not be impressive to jaded old timers or folks who've done animation, but I was like "wow..can I make some of my charaters walk like that?"..

Then "wow..how many months would it take me to render a few seconds of them walking."

Huh..I've been taking a Unity course...this is of interest to me...

(thought rather than developing content for it, I'd love if Daz picked up ideas about interface performance FROM it)

@Scavenger Daz sells content though. Not sure what Unity has that Daz could learn from...Do you have something specific?

Maybe not today, maybe not tommorow, but soon and for the rest of your life. Flip side of it is by then you will be jaded ;) Btw, most of the time people just buy stock walking animations for somthing like that. You don't need to hand animate it...

I'm sure DAZ will learn things.. I am also sure that messing with the interface in Studio would get them a serious spanking. I know where they work......

Why 'm not that surprised about a new logo or excited about another "7" figure Eve or another upcoming figure, What i would be more excited off is when daz finally would launch a working animation setup in dazstudio with some IK setup that actually works.

And the dazcommunity can start creating it's own animations without pre-made animate.

    +1

the walking animation looks alot like the one from skamotion

we animators are the DAZ orphanes

even if you want buy an aniblock from the shop its hard to find them between the lots of poses

While I'm fine with creating artistic stills with my DAZ content, I have done some animation in Blender just for fun.  I may not be good at animating, but with the proper tools I can do my own walk cycles and lip sync.  It's a shame DAZ Studio has such a mediocre posing system.
