Bundle more expensive than all pieces individually

I just noticed that the Modern Apartment Bundle, listed at $26, is over $10 more expensive than purchasing the individual pieces separately.  I am logged on with my PC+ login, of course.

I don't think I've ever seen this before.  Is it typical to see?

Two different sale pricing, so... yeah.

Always a good idea to check with bundles.

  • So then, should I jump on the individual items?  I've been meaning to get Victoria a washer/dryer set and some exercise equipment for her to use while her clothing is tumbling around... cheeky

    That's what I'd do, yeah.

  • LOL, if anybody needs to exercise while the laundry is tumbling around, it's me!  Victoria looks great just laying around watching television.  wink

    Thanks for the advice!

These bundles only make sense for a non-PC member to buy, for PC it will always be cheaper to buy the parts individually. An even more extreme example is

    http://www.daz3d.com/deck-the-halls-bundle-1

This costs 75 dollars for a PC member, where as the 8 parts would cost a shade under 16. For a non PC member the cost is 107 dollars, or 8x17=136 dollars individually. However even for a non-PC member it makes little sense to buy it at full price, it would be a lot cheaper to buy a 3 month PC subscription and the 8 parts individually.

The sale price might be for the benefit of non-PC members, that happens sometimes.

Note that all these items are very, very old (I bought them all between 2004-2007) and many of them were made originally only for Poser; in fact the two Apartment 39 sets still haven't been converted yet into D|S-native files. They're all still good models, though, you just have to keep their vintage in mind.

  • Thanks!

Yeah, I'm going to hold off.  I just promised myself that I'm going to get off my butt and get back to Blender.  I can build quite a number of those things myself if I'd just get back to work and take the time to learn the program.

    Back to school!  cool

What I love about old models is that a number of them, particularly the architecture, looks pretty awesome with spruced up textures. AND they are often on megasale.

it's not the only ones where bundles are more expensive than buying the items seperately Deck the halls 1 & 2 bundles contain 8 products each for the dream home at $75.32 each for pc members but if you buy each item seperately it costs you $1.99 per item x 8 = $15,92 or all 16 at $31.84 that is a massive saving of buying one bundle or both bundles for a total $154.64 again that is pc price

I just noticed Havos mentioned this too

I posted a list of 10 bundles that cost more than their individual parts a while back. Something like 6 of 10 still cost more as bundles even when I wasn't logged in with a PC account. ;)

Sometimes individual items are on sale but the bundle is not.

Those particular bundles were never intended to be bought at full price. They were available in December 2012 for $5.60 each as part of a special promotion, and they've only been kept in the store afterward for technical reasons, with a ridiculous price to keep people from buying them.
