Does PlantCatalog provides PlantFactory-edible files with all those nodes? At first I thought that PlantCatalog is just a collection of already exported plants (in .obj or .fbx or whatever).
If PlantCatalog actually gives "sources" so you can open them in PlantFactory and investigate the node structure - then it's nice to have. I was hesitating to download it as it takes space (and I'm always in race against free space on my PC).
.. seems like PlantFactory will Edit PlantCatalog plants + And dont think PlantCatalog are "export plants " - so , Factory will work those as Nodes -

Yes, PlantCatalog plants are full PlantFactory plants with all the nodes and variation. Won't be easy to study how they are structured though, because they tend to be very complicated with tens of preset variants (height, age, season) and also variations for trees in forests or single trees, etc., etc. All of that is made with an enormous amount of nodes, which are difficult to untangle. Better to start with following multiple tutorials, so you begin to understand the principles of many of the nodes.
But, because the PlantCatalog plants have so many options, you can easily create a multitude of versions from one 'species'. Be aware, plants with lots of branches and leaves and picture textures can be too heavy for Bryce. I have 16 GB RAM, but still some plant variants from the catalog cannot be previewed, because it takes up too much working memory to create the preview!
As a 32-bit program, Bryce can only manage 2 GB of memory, with LAA (Large Address Aware) about 3.2 - 3.4 GB.
I'm sure that if you don't use image based textures and go with procedurals instead, Bryce has enough RAM for 3d models themselves (unles you're using 1 million polygons or more per model, which I doubt).

If you make a tree with lots of leaves and high resolution and want some other items in your Bryce scene, you will find that Bryce cannot cope, if if the textures are procedural (which makes it difficult to have proper leave texturee). It helps to lower the resolution of the tree (plant), but not too much, to prevent blocky forms. Of course, procedural textures are best (memory wise), but that requires that your leaves are properly formed leaves. That can be done, using the 'blades' options on the Advanced segment. If you change the profile of the blades, it results in a changed geometry. However, changing profile on blades of course adds polygons and if you would make a very complicated serrated leave profile, the polygon count rises substantially. With image based textures, you can use alpha channel to cut out the leave form, as complicated as you want, but that comes with a price tag on the size of the textures. Of course, you can always lower the resolution of the textures quite a bit if the leaves are not really up close.
It is always a balancing act to get as many things as you want in Bryce!

Greetings everyone, and I apologize for reviving a year-old thread, but I'm having a couple of problems with Vue that I haven't been able to solve yet, and I don't know who to turn to for help.
First, only one out of every five times I try to load an object from the library does it work. The rest of the time, it tells me it doesn't exist (I've already checked with Windows Explorer, and it does exist, but it's not being recognized). I've installed the program four times and downloaded it twice, but the problem persists. The same thing happens with some of the sample scenes, although I discovered I can open them by double-clicking (or pressing Enter) on the files. It happens on my old notebook with Windows 8.1, my tablet with Windows 10, and my MiniPC with Windows 11. What could it be?
Second, when I create an animation, I get the following error message:
Error writing video file XXXXX.mp4
Invalid argument
Please contact the support for further information
I followed all the steps according to various tutorials and it just won't make the video. I've only been able to get it to create the .png files of the animation and I haven't been able to convert them all into an .mp4 (I followed a tutorial to do it in VSDC and it doesn't work).
It's a shame to have these problems, as I've managed to capture some really interesting scenes with this program:

Great scenes, Teobaldo. I have no problems with including objects in Vue. You do realise, I am sure, that you have to find objects that are not in a Vue folder (or 'included in Vue') via the 'open folder' icon at the top right and browse to your folder. You cannot find things that are not in Vue folders by typing the name in the search field. Also, quite some objects that are 'Vue objects' are in separate downloads and I think the thumbnail of them is there, but they are greyed out if you have not downloaded those downloads.
I have no clue about animation, because I have not tried it in Vue yet.

ed3D: Great tip about DaVinci Resolve. After watching some YouTube tutorials, I figured out how to make the video with the .png files.
Hansmar: I have everything installed correctly, and it still doesn't recognize it even though the object image appears.
I tried changing the folder properties and sharing them, but they still didn't show up. So, I finally decided to copy all the VUE objects to my "3D Objects" folder, and there's no problem using them there. I'm not going to waste any more brainpower trying to solve the problem.
I'm not going to worry about the scenes either; I'll just double-click on them and use them that way. What surprises me is that they have the .vue extension instead of .fsvue (before anyone suggests it, I already tried changing the extension, and it still doesn't recognize them).
I think I'll add all of this to the list of impossible things that have happened to me in life, like the problem I had when copying data from a spreadsheet and pasting it into another window that would disconnect me from the company network where I worked. After five years of fighting with Support, they never fixed the problem.
