Flash Sales: Knowing When They Happen....?

I think it was about a month ago I caught a flash sale that was up for about two hours only. It makes me wonder how often these occur and how to know about them when they do.
I suspect the only way to really know is to install a mind reading app but I haven't found one of those yet (Would really be handy with the girlfriend). Otherwise, I just thought I'd ask in case there really is an answer to the question.

That way you get a notification as soon as someone spots the sale and posts about it, not 100% effective as it relies on us mere humans (and other lifeforms) but it catches most of them, and the more members the better the chance of an early catch.
