Kids4 to Genesis using GenX2?

In DAZ Studio 4.8, I load the Genesis figure (not Genesis2 or 3), then I go to the Shaping, Posing, and Parameters tabs to find a slider to convert Genesis into Kids4 - and I can't find one.  I know GenX has transfered the Kids4 morphs, because they show up.  But how do I get the childsized Kids4 overall shape?  And why is the word Clone next to Kids4?  And not next to David or Aiko3 etc?  I can slide the Aiko3 slider and I get the Aiko3 shpae.  How do I do that for Kids4?

Thanks!

Okay, I found it.  Instead of being called Kids4, they've called it Basic Child.

IIRC GenX 2 should have enabled the Kids 4 clone (which is generally only used for autofit) for dialing into Genesis and that is the base reference the morphs are transfered relatively to. I am not sure if all transfered morphs look well with the "Basic Child", but it is worth a try for sure.

Edit: Yes, I got "The Kids 4" under Clones in Genesis in the Shaping tab from the GenX 2 use (see attachment).

Thanks.  I found the Kids 4 Clone Heading, but how do you get Genesis to take on the clone form of Kids 4.  The only 2 full body sliders are Chibi (Body), and Dolly (Body), there's no Kids 4 (Body) slider.

There is if you got the Kids 4 set that Slosh gave away as an Xmas present http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/read_me/index/20692/start

The Slosh Xmas give away was a K4 UV for G2F/G2M not a shape for Genesis.

However in addition to using the K4 clone shape as mentioned above, if you use GenX2 to transfer any K4 shape this will have transferred a K4 full and K4 head shape in the Gen X part of the morphs

I've used GenX on the K4 clone.  The GenX moprhs are close but if you put the K4 figure with the morph side by side with the GenX morphed figure there are differences.  Head to body proportions are off.  The Genesis/Genesis 2 figure with transfered morphs looks like an adult body and head proporton with child facial features and close aproximations of FBM's.  The K4 figure has more normal head to body size ratios (a child's head is bigger in proportion to it's body than an adults).

Sorry, I'm still not understanding.  I don't know how to use the K4 clone shape - there's no slider to shrink the Genesis figure down to kid4 size or proportions.  Also, when you say "use GenX2 to tranfer any K4 shape" - do you mean transfer any character morph made for K4?

    Thanks again.

The reason the K4 head looks so big is because K4 has the height of a 3-4 year old yet the facial features of a 10-12 year old (at least on the default K4 and the majority of characters created for it). I am not sure why DAZ created a figure with these odd characteristics.

In any case icprncss is correct, the GenX2 transferred characters are a bit off the original, and not just in body proportions. I have only transferred a couple of K4 characters, but I seem to recall having to dial in additional brow morphs to overcome strange looking eyebrows.

This is sadly untrue. What GenX2 will do is transfer the changes over, not the base figure the morph was built upon. In order to get the best fit, you will need a morph which matches the base figure somewhat accurately, and that means Basic Child since there's no direct K4 morph besides the clone (which is unfit for purpose).

In short, dial in Basic Child to full and then apply your K4 morph over the top of it. The results will never be exact, since Genesis has far fewer polygons in the face than K4 does, but it will be about as close as we can get without a dedicated K4 morph.

Why isn't there a Kids 4 morph for Genesis?

Because nobody made one...basic child was supposed to be the 'replacement'.

  • They're fairly similar, but there are noticable differences. If you dial in Basic child at 98% (0.98), they'll be the same height and rough build. The body is ever so slightly larger, and the legs ever so slightly shorter making the crotch sit lower than on K4, but it's barely noticable unless you're really analyzing it. The head is incredibly close though, hampered only by the lack of polygons on the Genesis figure.

On the plus side, we have Zev0's growing up morphs, which I highly recommend to anyone who's using youths in their work. They're amazingly well made, and available on both Genesis and Genesis 2 figures which cements them as a must-have. While this won't help in transferring K4 morphs over, it's still a solid way to create your own child figures.

Thanks for telling me about the Growing Up morphs.  I got them and applied it and got a great child sized Genesis.

The Christmas gift does include morphs, bothmale and female, about 8 to 10 years old.

This is something I was working on when I saw this post..I GenX'd Esmeray for K4 to G2F,  so I loaded G2F then dialed in the K4 morph and Esmeray at 100% each, the textures are Zyanya V4 which I had converted also, altho I can't remember how , probably V4 Skin batch converter. Just thought I would post this so you could see how it worked out, please ignore the lighting, I am still trying to figure it out

True, I had forgotten those. They are however for G2M/G2F not Genesis, and are not K4 clones as needed by the OP.

Oops. I may try transferring them to Genesis, just to see how they turn out. It's too bad there aren't K5, K6, or K7 shapes. I guess kid figures don't sell that well.
