Question on D-Formers

cosmo71cosmo71 Posts: 3,609

Hello, I have a question on D-Formers. If I have a figure with morphs and add some D-Formers to this figure, is it possible to create a new figure out of this that have this D-Formers included so I do not have to save the figure as a scene? Means, is it possible to create morphs out of these D-Formers that are included in the figure?

    I use Cr2 figures

Would you like to save the deformers as morphs? Or do you really still need the deformers?

You can certainly save the deformers as morphs, and then save those morphs as assets you could use later. I wrote a mini tutorial on saving deformers as morphs not long ago...not sure where it is anymore.

Hmm, D-Formers as morphs for later use sounds interesting. If the morph does the same as the d-former I would use the morph transformed out of the d-former. Where was the tutorial?

I have also a lot of clothes that have added D-formers and have saved these clothes as little scenes. The D-formers are most of the time for the chest-sides of tops so if a v4.2 figure has the shoulders down the clothes will fit between arms and chest. I think you know the problem :)

The smoothing modifier with the collision effect helps a lot as little morph follower but sometimes I need the d-formers, too :)

Oh I really need to learn that, bit hard to  at the moment, I'm packing for a move, so been peeking here every once in a while as I break or pass the room.

I know I can save deforms to use later, but would rather have them saved as a morph.

I'm going to BM this topic, in hopes of a link for that tut

To save D-former as a morph (and maybe morph asset) do the following.

    1. You need to get the Dform Pane up(Window>Panes (tabs)> Dform)
    2. Have the figure selected in the Scene tab
    3. Use the "Spawn Morph..." Button (the options below are up to you).
    4. Success! Once you spawn the morph, you can find it in the parameters tab under Morphs (maybe shaping too, but I don't use that)

Depending on the options picked, you can auto delete the deformers, or keep them in place. But either way you can still use the new morph. You can even dial it in backwards :)

This morph will work fine in this file. But to use it in other scenes we need to save as a morph asset. Optionally you may want to manipulate the morph settings in the parameter settings dialog first.

    Optional Stuff

    1. CLick the gear on the right hand side of the Morph
    2. Choose Parameter Settings
    3. Change the name, and other settings if needed, give it a fancy color. ETC

Saving as Morph Asset is very easy.

    1. Make sure your figure is still selected
    2. File>Save As>Support Asset>Morph Asset
    3. You will need to know where the morph is listed in the figure properties. I usually put my morphs into a Group called "Lars Midnatt", but for this one I left it in the Morphs folder.
    4. Click the morph in the list.
    5. Only checked entries will be saved/Updated. So only check the morphs you have created.

For saving the deformer too, I have no idea. I think I saw a post about how you could do that recently. But for making dformer into a morph, I can't find my post its getting old I guess.

But you need to get the Dform Pane up, and use the Morph Spawning Options. Once you spawn the morph, you can find it in the parameters tab (maybe shaping too, but I don't use that)

You can then save the Morph, as a Morph asset, which can be used in other scenes :)

ah okay, I will try it the next days :) thank you :)

still tweaking the post but steps are now listed

  • Morph Assets work only for figure assets, they won't work for V4. For V4 you need to use the ExP Exporter - http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/51646/#751891

in my case this is for some d-forms I have for Genesis, and in 4.6, I hope it works out the same there wink

I don't see  it in Shaping but it is in Parameters

thank you again it works great, I ended up creating a new girl saved in my saves, to test

now need to learn if there is a way to get in Shaping, that would be cool

The hardest part for me, was deciding on the name for the morph indecision, the one I tried this on, used 4 d-forms (lower back,Stomach,Gen,Upper hip) So just named in Mid section laugh

ETA: I learned how to get in in the shaping, it's just a changing the path thing
