Corset Dress Issue

I picked up the Corset Dress with Beth's starter bundle, and all seemed  well. The dress and its skirt render great.

Putting the dress on Rumiko worked just fine, too-- until I decided to make it a more "formal" look and add the Bolero.

Except that the Bolero isn't willing to cooperate. It's been rigged, I can see that, but it refuses to match the character's pose, almost like the rigging and the bolero have naught to do with one another. In fact, just to make sure I wasn't seeing things, I shut Studio down and reloaded to a basic G3F.

No dice. It remains in its t-pose when applied. If you load the entire outfit, it works. But if I want to add it separately, then it drops its texture and refuses to pose.

Is anyone else seeing this, or have I gone daft?

No, you're not the only one. I tried it on Bethany and the bolero arms don't move, even if you select the joints on the bolero itself and try to move them (they do move if you load the whole outfit). I also noticed that the bolero is untextured when loaded by itself, unlike the skirt and corset.

They've done something truly weird with this set. If you pick the Wearable preset that loads everything, the bolero loads textured, and moves with the character just fine. However, if you load the bolero by itself, it loads untextured, and can't be moved with the character.

I think it's not fitting properly when it's loaded by itself, even though it says it's fitted to the character in the parameters. When I put the bolero on the character and then click on the character's arms, I shouldn't be able to select the bolero, but I can. It also can't be made to fit properly; I've tried unfitting and refitting the standalone bolero preset, and it just won't move.

How you can make it so that it loads textured and properly fitted in the Wearable preset when the item itself doesn't fit properly and loads untextured, I have no idea. I wound up loading the Wearable complete outfit, then deleting the skirt and corset and saving off the bolero by itself so that it's workable until it's fixed.

I haven't reported it yet, because I thought it might be something on my end. The skirt loads with the smoothing off, too, but that's something that's easy to fix.

  • I don't have the set but it does sound as if the clothing item may perhaps be pointing to the wrong asset file or have local overrides.

The possibility of local overrides is why I posted the thread. I checked the rigging, and it's doing what it's supposed to.

If I had to guess, I'd say someone forgot to do an ERC freeze after they adjusted the rigging on the bolero. At least, that's what I'm planning to try next.

I don't have this but I looked at a friend's and I can't see any Weight Maps on the bolero.

Which I didn't look for, if only because I'm not sure what they'd even look like.

If you select one of the bones and then choose the weightmapping tool you will see that there is nothing there if you look at the Tool Settings tab. Each bone should have some weightmapping.

Something else to learn while I try and make clothing! This should be entertaining...

All I did was use the Transfer Utility to transfer the rigging etc to the bolero and resaved it with the texture added.  Works fine now.  My friend is a lot happier now.

I may have to try that later, although I expect DAZ will push an update for it as soon as they get in. Pretty sure soemone's said something by now. At worst, you can load the entire outfit and then save out the bolero separately. Or I could set the faulty version aside for practice. That could be fun.

Load the wearable preset with the working version, then select just the bolero in the scene tab and file->save as-> prop or figure asset.  Name it the same as the single bolero that's not working, a box will pop up, all the information should already be filled in correctly.  That should hold you until a proper update comes down the pike.
