I have been having some problems getting texture for Genesis to fit on G2 figures properly... sometimes they are just fine, and other time they are quite jacked up. Am I doing something wrong - is there a converter I need?
I have the 4th Gen to Genesis or G2 converter and that can give me mixed results from time to time too... anyone know what I can do?

Check that the UV name on G2 matches the one on G1 on the materials. eg if you using V4 UV skin on G1, make sure the skin materials is set to V4 UV on Genesis2.
OK thank you for responding, but I did that... used Michael 5 and still isn't right... not sure what else to do :-(
What skin are you using?
HFS Races: Elves for Genesis... the Dwarves from HFS go on just fine <shrug>
The product page and readme don't specify which UVset they use. If you apply the skin to Genesis, does it apply correctly? If so, check what UVset is being used.
it does and the UVset is <blank>
No, on Genesis the UV set used is V4. This is something you cannot fix, as V4 UV set is not an option you can apply for G2M. The product itself is designed to work with Genesis, not G2M. For Genesis, V4 UV's will apply easily, but unless you have a V4 for G2M package then you're simply trying to use the wrong textures for the wrong figure.
You can't expect something specifically designed to work with Genesis to be 100% compatible to Genesis 2 Male.
Note that specifying the UV set in a material is something that was introduced with D|S4.5 and the .duf file format. ONLY a .duf material file can automatically set the UV parameter, every single one made for earlier versions of figures, or every earlier version of D|S, will completely ignore this setting — it must be done manually after you apply the old material. After that, the best thing to do is to re-save the material setting properly as a .duf file, otherwise you'll need to do the manual adjustment every time.
Do you have "Victoria 4 for G2F"? I believe that also allows V4 UVset to work on G2M (for .duf presets, which these are).
I am not using anythign for V4 it is for Genesis. I do have V4 for G2F and M4 for G2M... except this is a Genesis texture
even when I manually change the setting it still doesn't fit right - perhaps I am just beign Thick today and not grasping what you are asking me to do :-(
Oh and not meaning to sound ungreatful - thank you to everyong trying to help me
Genesis uses multiple UVs, and the one selected by default when you load it is V4 UVs. So it's totally possible that a texture made for Genesis does use V4 UVs.
The default UVset for Genesis was the V4 set, which I believe is what HFS used here. I thought that having V4 for G2F would also give you the V4 UVset for G2M automatically, but it appears that it doesn't. I think it's just a matter of copying the UVset files from the G2F UVset to G2M and editing the copies to refer to Male instead of Female, but I'm not sure -- I believe there's a thread on how to do it, however. There may also be a product in the store to do it, butt again I'm not certain.
Another option is to load it on Genesis and use the Map Transfer option to convert the maps to the M5 or M4 UVset.
Yes, the how to convert the UV sets is in this thread...

And here's a nice tutorial on the Map Transfer Utility...

Thanx to everyone who commented - I was away from this project for a bit, but when I came back... this helped alot :-)
i too face this prob
V4 UVs work just fine on G2M if you have "V4 for G2F", you just have to copy across the UVs as explained in the post referenced by mjc1016. I have used V4 skins on G2M a number of times successfully. Remember that probably the majority of skins of characters out there from all the different stores use V4 UVs, so it is worth getting them to work on G2F and G2M.
