Older hair

I have a lot of hair products for non-genesis figures. I figured they wouldn't fit the newer characters. But today I tried on on Michael 6 and it seemed to fit him without me doing anything. It even moved with Michael as I posed him. That was a nice surprise. Or maybe I just got lucky? Or does the autofit work with hair too...but I never saw it run or ask me who the hair was originally for.

Conforming (cr2) hair will autofit, prop (hr2 or pp2) hair just need to be positioned and possibly scaled, then parented to the head.

Autofit will work for hair that is a Figure, but not hair that is a Prop. You can fit older hairs with a little patience and tweaking.

What I do is load my person figure, then load in the hair prop. Then I make everything but the hair cap invisible. Then I use the parameter's dials to adjust the position. Then I'll go to Edit-Object-Geometry and create a smoothing modifier. I set the person as the object to collide with. Then I adjust the scale of the hair cap so that it fits the head without too much stretching from the smoothing modifier. Once it fits, I make sure to parent the hair to the figure's head.

Then I can apply whatever material's preset I want and make little adjustments as needed. Hope this helps.

..that's pretty much what I do as well.  Even if the hair will fit by simply clicking "fit to". I so it manually as I have seen weight mapping have an adverse effect on hair morphs and poses of some older styles, especially those that have a lot of parameters.

Been manually cross-fitting hair since I got into this years ago.

I never use auto-fit for any type of hair. I just select nothing and load a conforming or prop hair into the scene, parent it to the head dial all the x,y and z to 0 and rescale if needed. You avoid that vacuum effect totally and can pose it with more freedom.

The hair I used was Darryl. I think it was in the Hair folder. But I'll save the information you provided for when I find one that doesn't fit automatically.

Yes, Daryl is a prop hair.

You found a product page for Sapphire Fox? I thought it had been discontinued (it was for V3).

That appears to have a version of Sapphire Fox hair, but only the morphs created for this specific package. It doesn't have any of Quarker's original morphs. I'm guessing the vendor may have made a deal with Quarker to get the hair prop that is included.

Mileage may vary depending on the hair.

I thought this was about hair for older people.

Sapphire Fox hair is one of my favorites as well.

Below is an iray render of Victoria 7 with Sapphire Fox hair.
