Dressing a Male Padme Amidala analogue

OdaaOdaa Posts: 1,548

I'm doing concept art for a space opera novel I might write for NaNoWriMo, and one of the characters is kind of a cross between Mad King Ludwig of Bavaria and Padme Amidala (in terms of dressing flamboyantly).  I currently have him as an M4 character, and gave him a suit of clothes combining the hat/ruff/hair from Lyons Hair, most of the M4 Witch Hunter outfit, and the capelet thingies from M4 Alchemist, all dressed up with Fabricator textures.  I also have H4 Nagase, M4 SpaceDweller and Wayii's gorgeous Executor textures for it, and M4 Prince, and M4 Regency, but I'm looking for more suggestions for M4 clothing that looks flamboyantly regal and/or flamboyantly futuristic.  I'm not opposed to trying a Genesis 1 version of the character, if anyone feels like recommending female Gen1 clothes that would work without simply crossing the line into drag queen territory.  I've had a look at some of the goth/futuristic type male clothes available of the Mourning Sun type, and don't feel like that's really him.

You can get a lot of mileage out of Valiant http://www.daz3d.com/valiant-for-michael-4 - especially with the different texture sets available. The UV is really clean and it's easy to make your own texture.

You could also consider buying expansion parts of the V4 or Genesis Morphing Fantasy Dress collection. http://www.daz3d.com/v4-mfd-expansion-pack-1

That will give you collars, sleeves and frills you can manually parent to M4 and his clothing to give you more details without it being an all feminine look.

    Ravenhair's Evilson?

The shoulder armor strikes me as very flamboyant.

    Luthbel's Jack of Hearts?

The wide belt and the big codpiece are definitely showy!

Luthbel's Shades of Atlantis series also has some collars, headdresses, and skirt things that could be pieced together for dramatic effect.

And how could I forget Luthbel's Vendetta?

It's for G2M, but there is a G2M clone for Gen1, and that long vest and cape with high collar are just begging to be repurposed!

Cute3D's Renaissance Male Clothing may also have elements you could use.

Valandar's Ambassador could work well in a futuristic setting with some gussied up textures.

Lord General, also by Valandar, also begs for creative retexturing.

Okay, I think I'm done for now...

Hmmmm, your question has inspired me to add more fantastical garb for M4 and G2M to my wishlist. Curse you! :p

Would things like these work for a G1 version? (using shaders and/or parts of some of their texture extensions)

Thanks-it's cute but a little simple for the Prince. :)

If you do decide to go the Genesis route (which can give you a massive amount of flexibility) there is the Princess Asia set: http://www.daz3d.com/princess-asia

I did a quick render using the Sparkles shaders (with iray applied). I doubt this is the specific look you are going for, but it's an idea of what you could use the outfit for.

I imagined your character posting this, referring to himself in the third person. "The Prince does not use the term His Royal Highness. The Prince prefers to be addressed as His Regal Flamboyance." :p Can we see some pictures?? --MW

Interesting... I didn't realize this set looked that good on males :)

Never be afraid to cross dress your Genesis figures. ;)

You mean he's not going around saying the 'Royal figure formerly known as...'?

Tim: very nice-I love those shaders. :)

Modern Wizard & MJC: LOL, and given what's going to happen to his homeworld, MJC is not so far off the mark ;)

I might post some screen captures this evening-so far he has his "pretending to be a responsible adult" outfit (SpaceDweller with Executor textures), his "informal social calls" outfit (one of presumably many) which I described in the first post, and a "casual at home" outfit which is mostly Alchemist up top and Witch hunter on the bottom (with more shaders).  I'm going to have a go at kitbashing some ceremonial robes out of the M4 Mage outfit and/or Valiant with maybe some dreampaint freebie accessories before I start buying stuff
