they change practices all the time. Things were very different years ago, like they never had flash sales for example. The way promotions worked was hugely different. You never know what they are going to do next.

I wouldn't let the sales get to you. Take advantage of them when it makes sense. I have phases when I check the store daily, and times when I won't visit for months. Sometimes it's good to just go and make art and not worry about if you are missing something new :)

Yes, there are some vendors that feature regularly in sales, and others that you hardly ever see outside of special events like March Madness. The "get x% off these artists' items when you buy a new release" sales seem to be pretty standard, with the discounted artists usually being the artists who produced the new items in question. The essential underlying strategy across most Daz sales is to entice you to buy new content by offering deep discounts on old content. Canny buyers will wait a few weeks for new content to become old content, and thus get included in the sales.

Also be aware that the last few months of the year have big sales events in them - the PA sale followed by the PC+ sale followed by Christmas, so you might want to hang on to your cash until then. Personally, I hardly ever buy anything at less than a 50% discount.

I've learned I don't need nearly as much as I once thought. If I "could" use it right now but don't actually require it, I wait it out.

Over the years I am more selective about what I get, and if I really need something NOW I don't worry too much about the sale %. If the price is fair I buy it. But I cherry pick my purchases and don't buy a ton of content anymore because I have at least several hundred dollars of content I've never used sitting on my drive...most was purchased at a huge discount.

So occasionally (more like rarely) I do buy something full price. But only because I plan to download, install and use it immediately.

I agree. It use to be that items on my wishlist came up in sales if I waited long enough, but now days items on my list seldom go on sale.
