SSS Ambiance

Hi. Quick question. Is there a way to disable, or turn down the SSS shader ambiance without chaging the actual surface? I find it very bothersome, espeialy when posing skin contact. With no shadows and the ambiance being so high its nearly white on white. I looked in the scene prefrences and I did'nt see anything for it.
