Iray Lights

I want to createa dark image but there seems to be a light continuously on in the scene. I have turned off the head light on my camera and as far as I can tell there are no more lights in the scene but still there is a light coming from somewhere. Not to raise a pun but can anybody shed some light on the subject?

    Check in the Environment option, and see what your 'Environment Mode' is set to.

    If you don't want any light in the Scene except your own created lights, change that to 'Scene Only.'   It is a good idea to try out these different options as a way to learning about Iray, it is well worth the effort, and you can cancel renders at any time, saving the image as the cancelled point for comparison.

    Try Render settings > General > Auto headlamp > Never

    Since you already deactivated the head lamp the only thing that comes to my mind is the light from the environment sphere.
