anyone else witness the new forum log in/out freakout loop?

Version 43.0.2357.132 (64-bit), OS X Yosemite 10.10

Just typed the address for the forms and my browser freaked out for about a minute with flashing logout screens and a loop of processes that kept trying to get to the next stage before failing to do so and starting all over. It did this on it's own, I coudln't even get to the drop down to do a manual login/out because the screen kept advancing and going backwards evey 0.5 seconds

yes I still have this issue. how were you able to post? only way I can post is if i stop the page from loading at exactly the right time, which is very hard to do. I had to try 10 times. even now the ghosted signing in box is at the top of the screen and I had to set the browser scale to 200% so I could post a comment below the white box.

thats not the issue chohole, we get stuck in a loop where it keeps loging us in over and over automatically ever half second. prevents you from doing anything. you have to force stop the page from loading to do anything.

the dazzlers are aware of the issue and said a few people have this issue, so I think they are working on it. Seems like they identified the cause based on an email I got yesterday from Daz_ann

The logging quirk I have noticed a few times now, after an absence, come back to forum via a bookmarked link, "just a minute while we log you out" ... then I have to manually log in, then after I'm supposedly logged in [at account page], I go to the forums and it says "just a minute while we log you in". I jump back over to the same link that at first logged me out and I am still logged in and typing here. So ? possibly a cookie issue?

I don't know patience, but thats not the same issue we are having. Yours may be a cookie issue. but I deleted my cookies and cache a few times, used different browsers and different computers and still get stuck with the infinite loop login condition.

I am reading updates to this thread in a separate browser I'm not logged into lol. and without refreshing the page in my other browser I am editing and adding new posts to avoid it starting up again.

I have it ticked as well but as described the page "freaks out" for about a minute flashing between logging out/in and you can do anything but stop it or wait it out or get a headache from looking at it AFAICT

Seems like my smiley really said it all.  I did have nothing to add.

Only had it happen once so far, but I think that might have been due to me using my old bookmark which took me straight to the forums, haven't had it happen since I started coming to the forums from the store page.

mine will loop for more than a minute, i wish it would stop at the 1 minute mark cause then it at least would be reliable.

I've experienced that "freak-out" too just now. I think I found a work-around where I cleared my saved passwords [just in case], then went to the store and logged in from there. Once I was in the store, I clicked the link to the forum and got to it without trouble. Taking a direct link from the browser history to the forums seems to mess it up. :p

thanks for tyring, but thats not my issue. I've done all that.

I used it yesterday w/o incident, using it this morning wihtout incident either (except for my initial login attempt) but between last night and this AM I was off for over 12 hours so is there a timeout on Daz's end which could be the trigger?

Sorry for the trouble with the sign in loop.
We are working on resolving this issue.
In the meantime, you can log into your DAZ Account and edit your Username or change the Username in your Gallery; making sure to choose a unique Username. This should resolve the issue and give you access to the forums again.

I did once, and only once, see some weird loop where it kept doing something over and over, but I don't recall under what circumstances it happened and I haven't seen it since.

I don't have any problems logging in. I log in it takes me to my acocunt and you select forums and it shows a loging in screen and you go about your business.

It was doing it a lot yesterday on my iMac and iPad... I don't recall seeing it on my Dell. I haven't seen it at all today.

I'm glad someone else saw it too, I thought maybe it was a Safari issue.

Thanks for the response. Hopefully it wont take too long. I don't want to change my only username. Thieves ya know. If I lose my name, I have nothing.crying

The problem is that when it is a problem that is only affecting a small minority of forum users it does become difficult to track down.  Bugs that are more general are much easier to trace although not neccessarily easier to fix.

    I got it using Chrome.

Safari is to browsers as Suffolk Community College is to SUNY schools.

they fixed this for me. So maybe it is working for others now. i noticed my name had changed to a crude and unsanctioned one. So I changed it back to it's proper username and it's all gravy now.surprise

I shoudn't talk. The college I went to made SCC look like Havard. Decades later the parking lot is still a car show and the mullet is still the prefered uni-sex choice of hair style.

I'm not sure how you can say or gestimate how severe or widespread the problem is when those who are affected are unable to log in and tell the whole world--here in the fora--about the looping problem. I had to just wait helplessly until somebody came to the rescue, which has happened, so now I am--in part to larsmidnatt's ingenuity--back in the saddle.

well judging by the amount of posting that has been going on since the new forum went live I can assure you that it didn't affect many of our regular posters.

That having been said, I also noticed that this fix came with an unauthtorized screen name change. I'm not "3dbug", but now incognito because I was disowned of my real screen name sad

can you make another post so that we can see that effect.

And you can change your own screen name now

  • 3dbug3dbug Posts: 67

Now, suddenly, I no longer have that avatar (the one I saw) appearing on my screen surprise. Querky behavior.

Anyway, thanks for the info regarding me being able to change back to my old screen name. I will try doing that.

I had it too. Asked the helpdesk and thanks to Crissie heart, who told me to change my username, I'm in.  No more loops since this afternoon. And my username is the same as was before! cool

    Love, Jeanne smiley
