Best ways to prevent/remove type tags on icons in the content library?
So to start off with, I know that the type tags can be removed by clearing the Type field in the Cotent DB Editor for each folder. However, I add new icons constantly, so it is a bit of a hassle to constantly clear that field using the Content DB Editor every time I add an icon to a folder.
Does anyone know of a way I could permanently prevent the type tags from being generated in the first place, either for a folder, or globally?
Alternatively, if there are any scripts/tools that could clear that tag with one click that anyone knows about, that would also help speed things up. It seems like it would be a pretty easy thing to script, but unfortunately I don't have that skillset.
Thanks!

You mentioned "add new icons constantly", it means that you save Figure / Prop assets and/or save Presets (Wearable, Pose, Shaping... etc. ), correct? If so, I think you must've known that when you save Figure / Prop asset, uncheck Content Type, then there won't be any icon of Content Type on the thumbnail of DUF files ~
But when saving Presets, there's no such an option. Content DB Editor is the very standard way of modifying content types and it is pretty fast when "batch modifying" Types there. Or you may move the DUF files to a newly-created user-facing folder by using Cut/Paste, then all Icons of Types will be "removed"... (while metadata are still there in cms database...)
Certainly a script can directly touch the metadata in cms but that requires scripting knowledge... However, I still wonder why you, as a PA, don't wanna see those "Content Type icons" ~~
Put simply, I have a very large library of content that I've purchased from the store over the years for my own projects that I've heavily customized and resaved into its own library to match a specific art style. So anything I buy I basically replace the materials, build custom morphs for, and resave as new assets if I needed to make geometry changes. At this point it's easily thousands of assets if you add them up. The most common type that get resaved are wearables because any time I resave the wearable after a material tweak the overlay comes back.
I find the type overlays obscure the thumbnail too much, and are too bright and distracting to easily see the thumbnails when browsing through a bunch of icons. You can see in the example above, with the little black U in the corner, I use Icon Creator Pro to create my own less obtrusive overlays to mark assets instead of using the pre-existing overlays for that information. In my library, all the clothing wearables are in a folder, so the wearable overlay is redundant once it's in my custom library and it's a bit distracting.
It's definitely my own unique workflow, so it wouldn't make sense for most people for sure. It would just save me some time if I could force them all off/on, or only have to remove them once per wearable. I always try to see if I can optimize repetitive tasks out of habit.
OK, understood ~ you have a unique demand TBH.
Maybe..., as an alternative, you may take a look at the folders within C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4\resources\images\contenttypes\Preset, all icons PNG files are there. You even can customize them to meet some of your requirements.
For instance, I just place the icon to the lower right corner and desaturated the color... as below ~~ Or make it transparent... etc. etc.
Oh nice that works great! I just renamed the folders for the presets I didn't want to be used, so I can always reset the name back later if I want. Thanks!
Ha ~ nice ! You're welcome.
