Here's one that's been crying out for a proper emissive light for the last ten years, the old Display Room with its big hologram in the middle. I think next time I'll let it cook for a bit longer to get a bit more quality in the render, and I didn't really do much Iray-ifying of the various grungy metal surfaces. I used various Real Lights on the glowy bits, and the Monitor Glow on the console screens... which I should have turned round, they're pointing the wrong way to see them. :red: Not bad for a quick test run, though.

Is the weather causing your Computer to overheat?

...let's just say I don't want to take any "unnecessary risks" as I don't have the resources to replace anything. Even though I'm in a half cellar flat, ambient temps in the place are have been reaching the upper 70s to low 80s as we have been experiencing much warmer than normal temperatures on average for over two months here.

We had spring flowers and blossoms on trees blooming as early as late February. Been an uncharacteristically warm and dry winter this year so the ground hasn't kept it's chill as it usually does into late May/early June. I think our last "killing frost" was sometime back in early January. Basically what we have been experiencing since mid May is normally early to mid July weather.

Finished another Curious Hallway render. I've always really liked this set a lot, especially the candle holders and shape of the doors, it has so much personality in the design.

Iray Marble MDL shader on the walls, Iray Architectural Preset on the doors, Emissive on the Candles, Copper on the Candle Holders and doorknobs, Iray Plastic Glossy on the Floors, and lastly the Emissive Shader was used on a few of the ceiling panels for practical overhead lighting.

There's also a photometric spotlight just over and behind Ysabeau's left shoulder for a rim light.

Bloom Filter and DOF are in camera, I added a vignette and touched up some poke-through in post.

...nice. About sums up the last several days.

Actually looks like will be getting more "civil" temperatures in a day or so (70s F).

    Thanks, aaron575.

Dinopt, I like the white hallway, maybe because the light bounces around more. Cool renders.

I did a couple of renders using the MageTower Accessory Pack that has the bottles. Some problems with the models. The hourglass is kind of cool. I shouldn't have used that wood texture though. The HDR is Mayor's Office in a Small Town, one of the free ones from hdrmaps.com.

...OK waking up the thread here. This one took a while as I had to track down a number of freebie items used.

Decided to not only pick up the gauntlet on this, but recreate (as best as I could) the first complete scene I ever did way back in the Daz2.0 days.

There are a few differences from the original.

--I used my current Belle 6 version of Leela instead of the original V4 one (it was a pain to turn the full grown Vicky into a teen)
--The tank behind the rusted barrel replaced a prop no longer available
--I substituted one of the Dystopia soda cans for the one originally used (the Dystopia prop is actually older)
--Omitted the rollerblades she on the shoes as they would not fit properly
--Added a bit of details to the windows of the tall building in the background.

For the sky detail I used a photo plane backdrop so I could get use the Iray sun. I also added another sky plane behind the camera with an emissive shader for reflections in the windows of the main building.and glass on the floaters.

    A Captive Audience Redux

The second attachment is the original scene from 2008.

This is still a bit of a WIP as I have been working on creating a solution to using skydome maps with teh IRay sun.

For anyone who missed my recent entry in the "Show Us Your Iray Renders. Part III" thread, this is Baroque Grandeur, and my first Iray render.

The light bulbs are Emission shaders. Every other surface is straight from the Iray uber base. There's a plane primitive above and to the right of the camera adding fill light to the foreground. Render time was about 45 minutes.

My Specs: 3.5 GHz Core i7, 32 GB RAM, 6 GB Geforce GTX 780

I absolutely love this. Where's the food. I'm hungry! ;-)~

Here are a couple more old props. I love shiny things.

The chair is from the old set of Treasures of Egypt. Strange, it has a real nice normal map.

    Nice!

As I recall, the normal maps were added when Treasures of Egypt was converted to .duf.

I've noticed quite a few of the updates have had that done to them.

I think I know now what to tackle next on my convert-old-stuff-to-Iray-materials list.

Stonemason's Sector 15, with Real Lights for DAZ Studio Iray applied.

I'm curious as to how long it took to set this scene up, using the real lights.

    Cheers,

    Alex.

Not very long; one long afternoon, really, and that includes getting the characters to sit so that their feet actually reach the floor. There are only about six surface areas for all the lights ("blue glow", etc). Once I discovered that the blue glow applies to the overhead light fixtures, and that they were sufficient on their own to light the scene, there wasn't much else to do but get the brightnesses to the right levels. I could have done better on that, frankly, but it turned out OK, I think.

By the way, the uniforms on the characters are also Stonemason (as Streetwear), and autofit very well to G2M even though it is a G2F clothing item, which makes it worth its weight in chocolate.

"One long afternoon". That's about what I thought it would take. It's very impressive.

    Cheers,

    Alex.

Is there a How to out there anywhere for Real Lights?

I've been playing with the old E-Bike

Just with the built in Daz and NVIDIA shaders.

...since I cannot edit the original post, a correction here.  Seems the new forum software flip flopped the order of the attached images.

The first image is now the one from 2008 and the second the new Iray one.

I also thought were mor posts to this thread than I am currently seeing.
