The installer to update 3D Coat does not run on W7. Thought I'd mention this before people start uninstalling programs. If you have 3D Coat on W7, that's it, enjoy. There is also a link to download the older version from the home site.

Seemed to work for me, if you mean the main installer. It is asking for DirectX 9 which I thought I already had installed for version 4.0, so that may be an issue. 4.5 is a new version, not an update as such, so shouldn't be installed over 4.0.

Edit: actually, it's fine - I had hit the DirectX shorcut instead of the CUDA shortcut the first time.

Well in running it as Admin, absolutely nothing happened, running it as a normal, got the message that it was for a different OS etc.
However it has been awhile since I've updated a few things so am running Windows updates now and hopefully that will resolve a few issues.

Updates complete and Nope, 3D Coat update .exe is not going to run on W7.

And it's not the only .exe, there's one possibly sold here in the store that won't be working on all computers either.
I have no idea if it's the software makers or the OS makers ... but somebody needs to get this matter fixed, it isn't going to be a small one.

It is running on Windows 7 - both Jimbow and I are using it. This must be a conflict of some kind with something on your system, security software being the obvious suspect. Have you tried asking for help from the publisher's forum?

I just got back a reply from the owner actually ... and um, well let's just say the support team over here is better.
    The situation is unresolved.
Conflicts ... well ? I am running Kaspersky but didn't notice it nabbing anything ... however it did a pretty big hold up on the CMS which I had told to run hoping D/S would find Headshop. It did not. Sigh ...

I have a few more ideas to wade through but anyways since I was and am having problems, thought people might like to be cautious before just buying the program [which was on sale] without trying it first and/or before uninstalling their old version "just in case" it doesn't work for them either. I am relatively confident that I am not the only one with a laptop trying to run some of these neat programs.

    Okay :-)

    One problem solVed today.

Disconnect from internet after downloading a fresh installer [just in case] ... turned off Kaspersky.
Then ran as Admin the installer ... and it worked!

Actually I turned off Kaspersky when it appeared that the installer was trying to work but not showing up ... and then saw something of a brief message about it was checking the installer AFTER I turned off Kaspersky. So yes it was software conflict, Kaspersky was preventing the .exe file from finding its installer stuff. Oh the joys of security.

    Thank you everybody.

Kaspersky has always been one of the 'toughest'...and one that tends to mess with installers the most.
