Not to worry. I was complementing the use of shaders and your render.
Holy Cow!
4.8 has just been released... and there are a number of new products just for Iray! Woohoo!
Must go check them out...
:-)
These are just the first wave. I know there are more for tomorrow as well.
Sooo looking forward to Unshaven 2 with Iray Hair presets

LOL, Mine, too.
Will our wallets/pocketbooks survive the next few days?
Hallelujah!
And a few other exclamations not appropriate for mixed company, (or the forum!)
Not working for me either. Store glitch as always? I guess I'll sleep on it anyway
Greetings,
I'm fairly sure they didn't manage to put DAZ Studio 4.8 in the hopper to release; I'm also sure that'll be fixed in the morning.
I'm glad it's just the first wave; it's a little too HDRI-heavy for me. I'd love to see HDRIs mixed with matte objects for complex shadow-catching... I picked up a few nice things, though, and I'm looking forward to more shaders!

Ta very much, Cath :) What period are you making?

wow it working it updated itself , no more beta check your DS beta is gone
Love it !
Merci beaucoup :)
...so the 690 would not work as a "de facto" Tesla compute unit even if not in SLI mode? Bugger.
...so that's the only advantage one gets with having both a GPU with a lot of memory and one with less.
Mec4D, i tried using one of your free lights for Iray, but i don't know how to install it. It is an Exr file.... Kept meaning to ask you how to use it. Also looking forward to other lights from you. And your unshaven 2, which i am watching for!
Kyoto Kid ..that is correct

belovedalia
did you got the one with the scene ? you need to unzip and out it under MY Library
and open the scene
if you got just the HDRI then load it via the Environment where is Sky and Sun
but you have to switch on too for Dome with Finite or Infinite Sphere
and talking about Unshaven2
I am playing lately with the Unshaven hair shader and seems it is good for other stuff like feathers and clothing just use the SSS only on one side polys but avoid clothing or will looks like wet waxy surface , bellow some quick tests , no textures just unshaven 2 shader .. figure is Olympia
Hair and feathers are trans-mapped with opacity map , some hair opacity maps are bad as they are not white and black but gray to simulate transparency but now not need anymore
You shouldn't need to be in Edit mode to do this. You do, however, need Consolidate Properties checked and Display Separate Items unchecked in the Parameter pane option menu.

I got "MEC4D_HDRI_exp2.0_outdoor_ambient.zip" when it upzips its an Exr file, "MEC4D_HDRI_exp2.0_outdoor_ambient.exr" and i don't know that format, how to install/where to install it. :/
exr is the ending of a HDRI file.
You can basically install the exr (HDRI) File in any directory you want.
For example, I have storied alll HDRI in E.\HDRI, which is nowhere near my regular content library.
When you go to the Environment render tab, click on the small image in "Environment Map" and select "browse". Go to the location where you have stored the exr file. Select it, and it will be used in your render.
Has anyone been able to succesfully get the private build version of 4.8? All it want's to download is 4.7
Mec ... you said it updates all by itself. I'm still seeing the public version .....
In the meantime.
Mercedes free .obj model rendered with lucian castle hdr map. Played heavily with scaling, camera settings, vignetting, bloom and tonemapping to get this particular kindda lensfilter effect look :-). Made one complete render with all settings and one of the car alone with clean settings.
Put the car as a seperate layer on top in Photoshop. Applied a little motion blurr and put the layerstyle on luminosity with a 40% opacity and did an additional minor curve adjustment for the finishing touch.
I got "MEC4D_HDRI_exp2.0_outdoor_ambient.zip" when it upzips its an Exr file, "MEC4D_HDRI_exp2.0_outdoor_ambient.exr" and i don't know that format, how to install/where to install it. :/
That can be used as an environment map
Sorry double post
Quick question...
Where can i get Mec4d free light?...
Very nice. :)
Would be better if you pack it up with a render preset. That is what I do so. That way I don't have to remember the other settings I used for tonemapping etc...and don't have to remember where I put that map and I also don't have to browse any directory. And that is very quick to reuse
BTW very nice dress render
Really great render! Last of the DAZicans... The first thing came to my mind was the main theme from the Michael Bay version.
Now I have to watch that ole movie again.
My last Beta render from yesterday, tweaked G2F's MAT preset a bit. Fortunately, you won't need to tweak the textures of her.
Lighting is "Stronewall" from HDRI-Hub. It's a bit dark so I used an ISO 200 setting on it. The "Faertara" outfit converts prettily, all you need to do is pulling the Glossy Layered Weight up to 1.0.
Uh, almost forgot, I used DAZcjones' method on her eyes. Thanks for that.
