heart attacks tend to do that, the first sign is usually fatal

I wonder if sometimes people know. One time I was working for a man who surprisingly gave me a hug as he was leaving the office on Friday (not in a sexual way, more fatherly, but he'd never done that before) and on Saturday he had a heart attack on the tennis court and died.

  • Had a boss like that. We found bottles of baby aspirin in his desk after he passed away. Apparently he'd been trying to self-medicate his chest pains and had read that baby aspirin was easier on the stomach.

Why he didn't go straight to the doctor is the most frustrating part.

(the moral of the story- go to the darn doctor)

Oh, that reminds me that in 2008 I was having over the course of 3 or 4 months very sharp pains in my left chest. A few times a month. So suspecting it might be mild heart attacks because I was just a few years younger then my father was when he died of a heart attack I read the back of an aspirin bottle to see if they told what the maximum dosage was before the aspirin became poisonous. LOL, I figured I'd use the aspirin to disolve the plaque that was in the blood vessels. I took one under that dosage. All seemed normal (because the aspirin was coated and took a while to dissolve that coating off) until that evening when I was driving the 200 mile trip to mow my mom's lawn and all of the sudden about 50 miles into the trip on the interstate the aspirin started taking effect. I was so dizzy, there was noise in my eyes, and my ears were ringing with blood rushing through the veins I could hear. I had to pull over on the interstate and call an ambulance. They made me stay in the hospital a few hours and were going to try to make me stay overnight but I told them I am checking at at 11:59 PM because I am not going to get stuck with an overnight stay bill from the hospital emergency room, as it was it was a $1200+ bill for a 5 hour stay in the hospital.

Since then I quit smoking  1 1/2 years later and changed my diet radically. I basically haven't had fast food but a few times since then. I've not had chest pains since then either. I can watch my resting pulse and blood pressure raise and lower like clock work measuring them in summer after a weight loss and again in winter after a weight gain.
