havijng a lot of problems with the Dream Home suddenly

I bought some of the eclectic skins for the dream home and noticed some problems. Many of my DH models won't load and I get error messages. So, I checked DIM and sure enough there were dozens of product updates, so I downloaded them all. Now, it's even worse. Now, smart content will no longer show me DH objects for DS, only for poser, and even those suddenly have no icons. Still, I tried to load everything via the content manager, which does show me all of it, but I still get the error messages.

Have you tried re-importing the metadata?

I'm guessing you have entries in the database left over from the prior versions. Make sure the content location DIM is installing to is being used by DS, Export User Data, reset the database, then re-import metadata.

    none of this worked.

So, I decided to check DIM and lo and behold, most of the great room files were not installed.

Which makes no sense, because I have been using them for YEARS. No idea how on earth THAT happened. Anyway, reinstalled them and now it works (big surprise). I cannot fathom how this could possibly have happened...

It happened because the new updates are the first ones ever in which the Dream Home scene objects are in native D|S format — previously they were in Poser format with D|S materials. Even if you already saved scenes with Dream Home bits in them, the data files created were conversions of the Poser originals — the new native D|S files are stored somewhere else in the data folder. When you tried opening your old scenes, they were all set to look for the old data files, which should have been deleted when the new data files that go with the new scene files were installed.

Note that there's a massive ongoing project to update old Platinum Club content into true native D|S format; it just happened to be Dream Home's turn recently.

Thanks for solving the mystery! I thought I was going a bit mad there hehe. Well, I'm glad to hear about the updating and it couldnt have happened to a nicer set of models. The dream home is still an excellent addition to any runtime.
