Ah, I didn't know Vyktohria uses them as shaping presets usually. It just surprised me that so many products so far have required them--although there haven't been that many products out yet, so maybe it shouldn't have.
It was said, in the beginning of this week = On Wednesday, maybe...
Unbelievable!
Guys - the shapes are on their way - better to have them working and tested than not ... and they are worth waiting for. I absolutely love the new shapes :)
Yeah, I came back to check the store myself, and still nothing!
Well, I did just buy KHI's ultimate morphs for G8.1, so I suppose I can play with it until the morphs come out.
Be patient, says someone who already has them! ;)
Really just teasing. It's frustrating to wait, but I get it. Not being a PA here, I need to get my hands on the general release before I can make custom fit morphs in my clothing for G9. In the meantime, I'm just trying to decide what to work on first for G9: convert an existing outfit or character, or go with one of the new concepts I have cooking. Decisions, decisions!
Tim
Convert an existing outfit - its really good experience on what to look out for :)
Sounds like a good plan!
'm guessing it is because they don't want the other 2 top 3d sites making stuff before their vendors do. Just a guess, cause it is odd they didn't drop the same time. If they are the merch resource pack without the licence then they are already done.
Nope, that's not it but good try :) PAs tend to be more forgiving if it changes or there's errors than users. Its in testing.
Seems to me that they would have tested them before releasing Genesis 9. It just sounds like poor planning to me. I can understand needing to wait on some things, but this is the one of most basic product packs to have for any figure, and should have been a bigger priority to get out by launch.
This is like selling a car and then telling customers to wait before they can adjust the seats.
We have already witnessed complications from this. Zev0's growing up package doesn't work correctly, and Zev was forced to slap together a fix. This situation caused Zev a lot of stress, and the customers a lot of frustration. It raises a lot of questions about who is managing Daz right now, because it should have been avoided.
They had tons of time to plan this, and yet this whole thing feels rushed and disorganized. From how the people who preordered ended up being the last people to get Victoria 9, to the lack of communication about where gen props are, to this situation and Growing Up; this has been a top to bottom lesson in how to botch a product launch. Daz has been in the digital distribution business for a very long time, they should know how to do this.
G9 is a huge project. It involves promos, marketing, QA, testing. Daz makes money from selling the shapes - they really will not hold it back if its ready.
The PA merchant resources doesn't need promos, or marketing.
I fully agree with you, rather a working product than a rushed product with bugs.
A better analogy would be selling a car, and then releasing a new product that will change the shape of the seats, make it look prettier and with way more options
:)
So if the morphs packs are bugged then the merch resource bugged too? Don't get me wrong yeah release a "working" product. But if this was planned out accordingly to release standards then what happened to Daz to cause such a fiasco of a release. You don't pull the trigger on a new release unless you know by testing standards that it is going to work out the gate. You don't release packs that contain things that aren't released yet. That not only causes confusion but mistrust, frustration and to some anger.
G9 as a product is done. There's scripts and autofits from previous generations and free textures plus lots more included with it. The body and head shapes is a product add on for sale afterwards. Its handy to have - but its not a must.
I think getting logistical info such as this will help with the wait as some, myself included are a bit impatient due to the radio silence more than anything, but yeah, I still agree with Outrider that this needed a much different approach for releasing a new product, as it has been an unfavourable launch.
I'm hopeful that the body shapes will include something that can make the G9M chest look better to me.
I understand the vast majority of Daz customers buy stuff for women and the mesh is likely been optimized for appealing female characters, but that's not me. Hopefully there will be a solution I find as appealing.
Well I can safely say that the shapes and heads will be out in the next week - not too long to wait. :)
Great.
Obviously you don't want to release anything before it's ready. And perhaps they ARE worth waiting for. But the bigger picture is (as so many others have already said) it was a very disorganized and messed up roll-out, causing many customers to become extremely frustrated.
Adding salt to an open wound, we have all these G9 figures and products coming out BEFORE the morph packs.
I believe the morph packs are more essential to G9 than anything else that's been released so far. And to borrow someone else's analogy, it's like buying a car with no steering wheel. You can drive it in a straight line, but you can't turn it any other direction. And having the dealership say, "Oh we're working on the steering wheel, you'll have it 'soon'."
Mada, would you buy a car without a steering wheel, with the promise that the dealership was working on it?
It isn't Mada's decision, and taking pot-shots at the messenger is a good way to lose the messaging service.
Is G9 not loading for you? or you can load it. If you can load it then you have a steering wheel.
I agree Richard... wasting time. I should be creating products instead. Thanks for reminding me of that :)
Sorry Mada, my response to your post was by no means personal, and I certainly don't think I took any "pot-shots" at you. I was simply pointing out the bigger picture, stating that the morph packs are an "essential" addition to any new base figure and should have been released at the same time as G9. As well as conveying the immense frustration of so many others about the way G9 was rolled out. I know you had nothing to do with that, and I applaud you for trying to keep the angry mob at bay. Happy creating!
Dial spinner customise people are obviously in the minority of users. The people that just use things out of the box must vastly outnumber us. Otherwise they never woulda released the dials we wanna spin well after the base.
Trust it wasn't a pop shot. It was a question is all. But that did answered my question. So thank you.
These should have been released before ANYTHING ELSE for Genesis 9, including Victoria 9. This is like releasing a paint program with no brushes.
Errr sorry but from where im sitting - as a customer the one spending money- they are a must. I have no interest in even thinking about G9 without them.
