Is there anything to be able to use MMD motions correctly with Daz Figures?

I tried MMD4Mechanim and converted VMD files. It's an old plugin from about 2018 or 2017 . i think the author didn't even finish it but it works well EXCEPT not with Daz figures. With daz figures with the MMD4mechanim you can convert the VMD files to fbx animations and when you apply them to the Daz figures, the daz figure limbs aweful twist like 360 degrees and stuff and distort.

YOu can also convert PMX models which are actual MMD models to FBX, and i tried that and applied the animation and with those models the animations work perfectly. I guess it has to do with the RIG/bones( i dont know much what this is called), the MMD has the correct Rig for the MMD animations. The Daz figures don't.

So is it useless to use MMD motions to try to use them with Daz characters? ( PS by motions usually we mean dance animations when talking about MMD)

That sucks cause this was the most amount of dance animation( animation other than fighting and action stuff that usually exist in the Unity Asset store) i've ever had found. 40plus full song dances free( there's alot more you can pay for but i just got the free ones). And sadly they don't work because of how the daz figures are made. ( rig or whatever it's called).

Are Daz characters some of the most different ttype of characters in how they're made? (RIG or whatever it's called)

they can all be retargeted in Blender, Unreal, iClone etc

the issues are with the DAZ BVH importer and Genesis  3 and 8 twist bones

it will work on Genesis 1

    use that

save the animated pose as a duf

with bone editor selected move root bone on 3 or 8 to 0,0,0

    rightclick choose edit bake rotations

    load the duf animation

genesis 8 pose control arms up 45degrees legs in 6degrees

Thanks for the info. Can you give me more info on how to do this i'm not very smart?

So i go to blender with my VMD files and then what? Do i need to have to plugin in Blender installed?

And do i need a PMX model? PS I don't want to use a PMX model for my final project, i want to use a daz character.

Ok So anyways even if i need a PMX model, i have downloaded a few so it's no problem. Then what do i do to retarget?

What do i do to export the animation correctly for Daz?

And then you said something about Genesis 1, so what do i do in Unity with Genesis 1? OR do you mean i have to import the resulting blender data to DAZ Studio? So that mean i have to save out as BVH? Cause i think that's the only animation type Daz reads.

    Sorry i'm asking

If you don't want to explain do you have a video tutorial or pdf tutorial on these steps? It's too hard for me.

And PS also i don't have Genesis 1 in my Daz where do i get it from?

I don't know how to specifically export a MMD motion but there are lots of tutorials you can Google for Blender

also many on retargeting to other figures

I was only dealing with the DAZ import

and no FBX in DAZ is rubbish BVH on an existing rig your only option as crappy as it is

I personally use iClone6 and 3DX6 to retarget FBX but the others are free options

Genesis 1 is  in the DAZ starter essentials

Yeah i bought it but there's like a bug or something if you leave it at default 30 frames per second in Blender. In unity it will say "FPS is 0, changing to FPS 1". So it doesn't work, the only way to get the animation full frames is to set the fps in blender to 60 but then you have to set the settings to i dont' know what....in the fbx export...i just experimented and copied some that i found in a tutorial not related to this product but that just talked about exporting FBX from blender...

it said to change a bunch of options including change From -Zforward to ZForward or something. And a bunch of other otpions but then, in Unity  that wouldnt work, . By luck i dont know how i changed something i think i left the -Zforward in stead of change to ZForward and then in Unity it worked....Butit has several animations inside the fbx and only one is the real MMD that you want that is 6000plus frames....But then if you change the FBX to humanoid, all the animations inside the fbx disappear.

So i'm not sure what to do there. Also, i tried my process again and it didn't work, it had the avatar facing the wrong way so i guess I forgot what i did the time when i made it look the correct way.

    Bunch of difficult :)

And also notice i had to change fps to 60. That's not gonna match the music WAV that goes with the MMD animation because it was not originally 60. ANd i don't reallly know there's a way to change the animation fps in Unity since you cannot send it as fps 30 from blender. And i even wonder is the original fps 30? or is 29.xx?

I wish there was more of a tutorial or i hope the author has a email contact, i will try to contact and see if he answers
