"Following" Forum Categories

How does one go about marking specific categories in the pull down forum menu as being "followed"? I can't seem to find out how.

    For the categories I don't think you can specifically follow them but you can hide ones you are not interested in by hovering over them in the forum homepage and cog pops up, click on that to get a menu with hide in it.

    For individual threads you can follow those (get notifications when someone posts) by clicking the star in the top right corner.

    Thank you! I found it, but it doesn't seem to be working at the moment.
