Enchanted Wood - A Fairy Habitat is not functional

Anyone have any success using Enchanted Wood - A Fairy Habitat https://www.daz3d.com/enchanted-wood--a-fairy-habitat-
On a PC running an Intel i9 10980xe, 64GB RAM and a 3080 GPU, it locks up my PC when trying to run iray preview. Even in wireframe mode, Daz becomes completely unresponsive. Seems like others might be experiencing the same issue. If this is the case, how does something like this get published in the Store untested?

As a discalimer, I'm running on a 3090rtx, so that might be helping things. however, even then I can barely move around in the viewport, even in texture shaded.
Alright, so I just had a little play around with this one. I've got a lot of MartinJFrost's products, but most of them are single plants or trees. They're very nice, but they do take up a fair amount of resources just for the single plants alone. This is basically just several thousand different instances of these plants all in one location, so yeah it's not very nice on systems. For example, rather than the path being a texture with bump and normals and all that, it's several thousand individual pebble instances.
Because of that, absolutely make sure your instancing optimization is set to "memory", not speed or auto. That'll hopefully prevent crashes.
Secondly, for setting up cameras/characters etc., stay in texture shaded and hide the "Plants" group. The terrain stays in place so you should be able to position things accurately, and if required you can unhide anything with less than a hundred instances. You can also hide the Path group (with those pesky pebbles), but I found just hiding the plants was enough to have completely smooth movement.
So yeah, I think it could be optimised better, but I'm glad the artist at least grouped everything logically for easy hiding/unhiding. And it does look pretty darn good
..seems I will need one of these as my next upgrade the way things are going.
As an add to my previous, the other nice thing about instances is that they render real quick. I got to 100% render completion (1259 iterations) in 2 mins 35 seconds. (just a quick render, though, with a backdrop)
Mind you, I would NOT recommend using the provided render settings. For whatever reason it slowed things down further.
Thanks for the help. Setting the Instancing Optimization to Memory solves the problem. I feel like I've set this setting to Memory 1000x over the years and it magically likes to revert back to Speed sometimes on its own. Now its rendering smoothly so thanks for the tip. Hopefully others experiencing the issue will see this.
I find it disconcerting that some PAs report their items being sent back for rework again and again just because of some perceived similarity to existing real world products, while true quality issues like this (and others) are simply waved on. Or maybe not looked at at all. I like MartinJFrost's products a lot, but it sounds to me like this one, with a little assistance from QA, could have been made a lot more user-friendly easily. Is this not an issue for DAZ anymore, at all?
Yes, this set is a beast, but there is this in the readme:
The product is a Daz Original. That means that the responsibility for informing purchasers about this kind of thing lies with Daz, and no longer with the PA.
I just tried to load one of the two landscapes into an empty Daz Studio 4.20. It instantly crashed to desktop. I reopened Studio and tried to load the other landscape and it too crashed to desktop. Third time, I only tried to load a single prop and was successful. Also, the DIM has installed it into a misspelled directory folder (Enviroments). Notice no "N". I'm running an i9-9900k 32GB RAM RTX2080ti. 4th try, I changed the optimization/instancing optimization to memory as suggested. Again, crash to desktop before fully opening. :(
I don't have that set, but having worked with UltraScenery and instances, one thing we are warned to do is to not have Iray Preview on, set 'Instancing Optimization' to 'Memory'.
See it that helps.
For the bad directory spelling, you should submit a report to Daz as they will have to fix that.
It is a bit of a chonkers set. Are you definitely loading it in texture shaded preview? (or even smooth shaded--basically just not iray)
Thank you! I was able to load it after changing the preview. I have an extensive library of content but this was the first time that I ever had to change studio settings just to load a prop. Interesting! Always learning!
