Dying Parts of Peony Hair

Using the Peony hair for Genesis 8.1: https://www.daz3d.com/peony-hair-for-genesis-3-and-8-females

My question: Is there a way to dye only parts of the hair? For example, the horns.

Each horn is selectable, as well as FrontRight1, FrontRight2, etc. But in the Surfaces tab, there is only hair1, hair2, and scalp.

I only want to dye the horns, and perhaps one section of each side.

yes, you can create your own surfaces. select the polys you want in the geometry editor and right click -> create surface from selection. copy the shaders/materials and then change the color

In the geometry editor, you can select the horn face groups without having to go picking and choosing polygons.

Then, in Geometry Assignment, Create Surface from Selection.  Then you can apply another shader to the horns.  If you want them to be a different hair colour B, apply B to the main hair, and then copy/paste the surface settings to the new horns surface, and then apply the original colour A  to the main hair.

You can also use a different shader altogether, but it will be difficult to match April's hair texture.
