Scientific fact. It has been proved that Birthdays are good for your health. Studies have shown that people who have more birthdays live the longest.

Love Jack's stuff, we does.. Makes me wish I wasn't retired and on a pension.. Would pick up lots of his stuff.. Saving for "Dine on the Orient" - perhaps this year will see me do some Poirot renders with it...

Been playing around with "The Library" - working out lights and such.. Will need to populate it eventually..

So Here's To Jack! - Good On Yer, Mate - keep up the good work!

    Cheers!

...quick technical question. Apologies for the minor Derail. My PC "Classic" membership ends in about twenty minutes. I cancelled auto renew last year as I wasn't sure if I'd have the funds to go for a full year again. Then PC+ was introduced and there is now a fairly affordable quarterly membership. I was thinking of going with that for the time being but I don't remember if I can use GC credit or not for it.

Also Is there still the old "grace period" or dose it just cut off tonight at 11:59 Daz Time tonight (02/06)?

Off the top of my head, I'm not sure tbh.. I'd say give it a shot and try.

ETA, worst case, it will lapse and you'll have to jump on the quarterly, but then you can move back onto the monthly payments, or add in an annual if/when you want. It will all stack now correctly (unlike the old membership days)

...well, woke up today to find no PC discounts. Guess there is no more "grace period" like there used to be (I think it was something like a couple days).

Kind of moot to re-up even on a 3 month subscription for the moment as it is the weekend.

...well posted about this on a thread n the Members Only Forum (odd that I still had access to it) and received a response that GC credit can be used as long as the GC is claimed. So as of this morning, back in for the next three months

...and not anytime soon, as there were new freebies available today.

A guy called Allen sent me this via FB, which he made and I figured I would pass it along here.. (I don't know if he frequents the forums or not).

Love it, very reminiscent of The Shining.

I love the look of "Chapter House," and the PC+ price for it is an absolute steal, even if I can't think of any immediate use for it.

Is it based on any particular real world original?

    wow.. just bought that!
as far as real world? Sure reminds me of the chapter houses in Lincoln and Wells Cathedrals...

Oh cool to know. I thought with it being released alongside the Padishah/Emperor sets (matching the Irulan one) that it was all meant to evoke Dune. At least, that's what it did for me. :)

Running some renders with it now.. its a lovely set..
as an FYI - the round design of the chapterhouse (which had seating around the walls) was made so that at a chapter meeting, no monk would have a place of any greater significance than any other...

and here we go - need to play with the lighting just a bit, but the Jack's Chapter House is a winner of a set..

I seem to be having a weird issue with Chapter House - everything seems to be rendering darker than I expect. I started having the issue with my own light set up, and then switched to the included lights to try to figure out if I was just really far off for some reason... but those lights are coming out dark as well. I don't usually render scenes that are complete interiors, and it could be that I just need to turn certain walls off. Unless there's something I'm just blanking out on or missing for some reason. Is there something special about this set or the lights in this set I should be alert to?

The full render is supposed to be the candlelit night scene, and then the incomplete render is supposed to be the daytime light set.

Using 4.7.0.12 (Mac 64bit)... Since I posted I've mostly gotten my scene bright enough by a combination of increasing UE2 intensity to around 50%, adding in an AoA Ambient light at around 50% and turning off a couple of walls behind camera (that bit may or may not have had much effect). Still, was puzzled why the set didn't come out brighter to start and wondered if I was using the included lights inappropriately somehow.

Seeing something of the same darkness here. - Doing test renders with the stock light sets - will post in a bit..

Yep.. similar results - using the stock light sets.. (which oddly enough are labelled as cameras in the lights folder , but contain no cameras..
Also, I don't quiet understand the difference between the "Pre-A" and "Pre-B" set loads, and I have no clue on what the "Light Leak" object.material does..

EDIT - using current version of DAZ studio, Win 8.11, rendering in 3Delight - have deleted and reinstalled the Chapter House, same issues..

    anyway..

Stock light set "lights_Clabra" with Pre-A set: (will post each test separately)

Hmm, this is weird.. I guess I need to check in 4.7 too.. this was rendered in 4.6 here, but I'd be surprised if that was the issue..

Will get on this as soon as I get a chance today.

    Cheers!
