Has anyone any experience with The Comic Book Creator:

It's in Mighty Deals at the moment for only 10 bucks, so I was curious if anyone has used it, and what they thought of it....

Looks like it's just a bunch of Photoshop files....templates you put your art into.
So, could be handy for that...though it doesn't look like there's anything you couldn't do yourself in photoshop, or likely find similar things as freeware with a bit of googling.
As you said, it's just $10..so if you do comic art, it might be worth the time saver. There's a week before the deal ends, so I'd google around see what else is there.
(I did just google "psd comic book template" and a bunch of links came up. I didn't go thru them though to see what was there or what was legit free stuff vs ...not legit.)
i thought that too, but i saw this:
Easy B&W and Color Halftone Comic Look
By simply placing your photo inside smart objects, you can easily get Black and White and Color Halftone comic book effects.
and i'm wondering if the files come with "smart objects"....that will give your photo/render the effect.
Mind you, I've never actually USED the "smart objects" bit in PS so I have no idea if that even makes any sense.
I know there are things like speech bubbles brushes and sound effects bubbles etc out there, but for the price, it might be cool to have it all in one.
Yeah, I've never played with smart objects...but it seems to me that those effects are full on mode changes. I'd guess that they're basically folders that have a filter attached to them so like you put a picture in it, and it turns b&w.
If you get it, I'd certainly like to hear how it does.
from what I could see in the past its far more streamlined for throwing together quick comic pages than Adobe Creative Suite/Cloud which is a much more professional and expensive and time consuming way to do it.
Have you tried FotoSketcher Jakiblue? www.fotosketcher.com/
Then doing Photoshop bubbles in a layer and moving them around, easy smeezy.
This is a different product. THIS one is just a collection of photoshop files.
There are a number of actual programs out there that do comic packaging..
the other "Comic Book Creator"
Comic Life
Manga Studio
I'm sure others.

I've been looking at "the comic book creator" myself. For $10 it's not a huge investment - if nothing else, you get some cool templates which alone can save hours of time. I just finished making a colouring book and the process is long so anything that saves me time is a good thing.
Also, I work on a Mac and fotosketcher won't work on it ( Windows only).
Sure, you can do the effects yourself by applying PS filters to your images and/or doing the Image Trace in Illustrator. It just takes time - but a comic book has so MANY images to deal with... It's just another tool - deciding if I really need it.
Comic book creater used to be one of our Vendors. We dropped them as soon as we figured out all the add-ons they sell for Everquest & the like were not licensed and were copy write infringements. That's why its down to 10 bucks.
from playing around with it its OK for very basic stuff but doesn't have any really good quality to the finished product, especially if yer intent it printing. If you intend to use it for any higher resolution web comics, even less do. Yer better off setting up comic templates in PS.
It looks like it provides a quick and easy way to get started, but I wonder how flexible it would be. If those templates are examples, it's one thing, but if it's all there is, it would be pretty limited.
I am working on my own Webcomic and I use Manga Studio which, while much more expensive than the $10 price this is asking, is extremely flexible. In its own way it can be as powerful or even more so than Photoshop (although I still use PS for a LOT of things).
If you're willing to stash a little more $$ (not much, it's about $30 total)...Comic Life 3 is a pretty powerful and streamlined product.
I believe there's a 30-day trial you can toy around with to see if it works for you.
But: It's mainly for laying out comic-style elements on top of your artwork. It doesn't have a lot of filters built in to post process the images themselves. Maybe GIMP for that, if you don't have PS handy?
I have BD Studio Creator which is Comic Book Creator french version and Comic Life 3.
CL3 is really better and more complete than CBC (filters, themes, script editor ...). Go see their website.
As dhtapp said, you can get a trial version and there is also a special price for education.
