NOA 8.1

noa

I think I'm done buying characters. Another vanilla wafer ..the skin not much different than anything before really.
So i won;t post anymore on characters unless it is an eye popper spectacular or something.

    He looks like Michael 4.

Certainly, Noa 8.1 is of good quality, and he seems likeable. But he is not exactly the type I have in mind as an archaic biblical figure or as a demigod... Blond and blue-eyed, with the face of a saturated middle-class citizen, his head adorned by the average haircut of the 20th and 21st century... Hollywood follies of the 1950s and 1960s are experiencing their revival and are still gratefully accepted - right?  ;-)

Looks to me like an incomplete bundle. Perhaps a new "bundle cutting" strategy with a second part tomorrow and a third later... ? A bit expensive for what it is, in my humblest opinion...

Very uninteresting character. Looks a bit like a blend of 6 or so previous core characters. Don't see what's supposed to be greek about him. The outfit is pretty cool though!

'Noa' really is the most unfortunate name for an 'ancient demi-god'. And like the posters above, I can't see anything 'ancient' or 'demi-god' in the character either. He's pretty I guess. But then, they all always are.

If one goes to Gods of Old Bundle, the page has no thumbnails for the clothing and the link leads to an "Oops page" because the address is wrong (uses "set" instead of "outfit")

I think the only reason I am slightly interested in him, is the picture of a Manticore in the pose product. Maybe a new figure?

I like the head morph quite a lot, especially with the promo expressions, but NOA way am I touching this ridiculous deal.

  • I would be very curious to see the sales data from today. As usual these days, I have no idea what the DAZ people are thinking. A major “bundle” that is three items (four if you count the ‘freebie’ poses). I’ll probably pick up Noa at some point when he’s 80% off. For now, my bank is at least happy today.

I got an Elios vibe (but younger) as soon as I saw him. I didn't pick him up either ;). He's nice enough and all, but nothing I don't already have.

The "godly" promo renders are gorgeous! that's all...smiley

I like him. He jumped into my cart. Here's a render I've done already, with a minor tweak to his body shape. I unbulked him slightly and changed his eye color to one of Deepsea's eyes.

The render is very nice I think, very real! He seems to work a lot better as a normal guy from next door.  Love the lighting!

yep, nice render. He looks better here for sure than the promos.

He actually does look like a coworker from Greece that I worked with about 20 years ago. Eerie!

His eyebrows kind of bug me. Not a fan of these super arched  brows and we have several like this already like Elios. I prefer straighter eyebrows. They look plucked and surprised in the closeups.

I don't buy characters for their shape, I buy for skin. He has painted stubble, and I try to avoid that. I thought with G8.1 we'd be over that by now. (Granted most male characters I would use would have stubble on their own, but I'd rather add the stubble myself than have to deal with not being able to remove it. Plus up close you can really see that it's painted on.)

Drat! And if he's like Pablo, there won't be a factory fix. Oh well, Core Figures ain't what they used to be.

I think that seam is less an issue with the skin maps themselves and more an issue with spectral rendering and incompatible sss settings.

He might be a deep sale pickup.

  • So, at first blush, it looks like they have taken a bundle and pulled it apart to try to sell us the individual pieces along with these rather silly promos.  I don't think they are doing the artists any favors this way.

I was hoping he had a no-stubble option in his textures, but he doesn't. He has a no-eyebrow option, but no eyebrow add-on included, so you have to borrow eyebrows from another character or use one of the eyebrow add-on products from the store. Other than these things, I do like him.

I really like this character, he's very handsome. I gave him strong Vladimir brows.

Can I ask what chest hair you are using?

Hi, it's freebie called SBH Body Hair on Deviant Art.  It's not the easiest product to use, so beware. wink
